190A The Tote Claiming Race

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Tennesse Waltz, trained by Sean Byrne, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards wished to interview J.M. Sheridan, rider of Shamalov, concerning his failure to allow his mount at least three strides to respond when using his whip in the latter stages of this race. J.M. Sheridan, in the presence of Mr. James Gough, accepted that he had three previous breaches of R10(3) since the new Whip Regulations came into effect. Having considered the riders acceptance of his disciplinary record in relation to R10(3), the Stewards pursuant to R10(6) referred the matter to the Referrals Committee for consideration.

At the request of the Stewards, J.M. Sheridan, rider of Shamalov, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ducked into the rails in the closing stages of this race for no apparent reason.

190D The Tote H'cap

The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Ultra Pride, ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed fourth and Ellaat (GB), ridden by K.J. Leonard, placed second, where it appeared that Ultra Pride was short for room when racing close to the running rail and momentarily checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards gave the benefit of doubt to K.J. Leonard and in the circumstances took no action other than to remind him to ride with more care.

The Stewards requested a report from Aidan Anthony Howard, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Franklyn, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Limerick 15th June. The trainer reported that his charge ran flat at Limerick possibly as a result of running back too quick since his previous run at Gowran Park 3rd June. He also felt that the easier underfoot conditions today was another contributing factor for the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

K.J. Leonard, rider of Ellaat (GB) trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged a bit to the left during this race.

190E The Tote H'cap

S. Foley, rider of Light That trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

G.M. Ryan, rider of Time For Mabel (FR) trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left for most of the race.

B.M. Coen, rider of Papal Count trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
