Junior Administrative Assistant - Licensing Department

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. The IHRB is responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish horseracing. It is also responsible for the licensing of all participants in Irish racing.
The IHRB wishes to recruit a Junior Administrative Assistant reporting to the Licencing Department Manager. The primary function will be to support the licencing team in the delivery of the following:
Licensing Duties:
Administration of professional and apprentice jockeys
- Processing first time applications and preparing files for the Licensing Committee
- Processing renewal applications
- Day to day administration of all aspects pertaining to licensed Jockeys
Administration of Jockeys Agents and Valets
Answering general licensing queries and advising Licensees in relation to the Rules of Racing.
Non-Licensing Duties:
- Taking calls and updating information in respect of non-runners and reserves. This involves logging and disseminating information in relation to non-runners and reserves on all racedays in accordance with the Rules of Racing.
- Administration of Race day information following race meetings.
- Member of the Licencing team and assist with various project work as it arises.
The Person
To be considered for this position you will need excellent administration skills, strong attention to detail and be able to work as part of a dynamic team in the Licencing Department as well as working on your own initiative. You will need excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across the organisation and externally. The role may also involve some Bank Holiday work.
Education, Knowledge & Experience required
- Preferably educated to degree level
- Excellent communication, organisational, verbal and written skills
- Good computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general IT skills are essential
- A self-starter capable of working on their own initiative and as part of a team.
- Must be meticulous - paying great attention to accuracy and detail.
- Horseracing Industry knowledge advantageous
