The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer of West Coast Time (Going) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

R.P. Treacy rode Little Haarth (reserve) , trained by Desmond McDonogh (Race 2)
Aiden Coleman replaced M.A. Enright on Barra (FR), trained by Gordon Elliott (Race 5)(Injured)

205B Tote Proud Sponsor Of Galway H'cap H'dle

The Stewards interviewed D.R. Fox, rider of Adimelo (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.R. Fox was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned D.R. Fox on this occasion. Mr. Derek Pugh, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

The Stewards requested a report from Gavin Cromwell, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Ilikedwayurthinkin, placed first, as compared with its previous run at Naas 10th March where the animal finished last of seventeen finishers beaten fifty four lengths over two miles and three furlongs on yielding ground. Gavin Cromwell reported that his charge disappointed at Naas and no abnormality was found post race. As a consequence he was sent home to his owners premises where he was given a break of approximately two months. He added that on returning back into training his fitness was built up gradually. He felt that today the animal appreciated the longer trip, the good underfoot conditions and overall he had strengthened up over recent months. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walking In Memphis, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

205D Play The Tote Trifecta (Q.R.) M'dn

Mr R.O. Harding, rider of Right Approval trained by Leonard Paul Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left during this race.

205E thetote.com Galway Plate (H'cap S'chase)

The Stewards enquired into the excuse lodged (clerical error) for the withdrawal of Some Neck (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins. Evidence was heard from W.P. Mullins. The evidence caused the Stewards to determine that there was confusion that warranted further investigation and referred this matter to the CEO of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board for further investigation.

The Stewards interviewed K.C. Sexton, rider of Peregrine Run, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that K.C. Sexton was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended K.C. Sexton for 2 racedays.

The Stewards interviewed L.P. Dempsey, rider of Borice (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that L.P. Dempsey was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned L.P. Dempsey on this occasion.

205F Bet With Tote At The Galway Races H'cap

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Tauran Shaman, ridden by S. Foley, placed first and Insane Bolt, ridden by A.J. Farragher, placed second, where it appeared both horses got close when making their challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no action.

205G Play The Tote Superfecta H'cap

The Stewards interviewed R.C. Colgan, rider of Upgraded, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Colgan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned R.C. Colgan on this occasion.
