209D Guinness Galway H'dle H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Skyace, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

K.C. Sexton, rider of Belfast Banter trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a mistake and the saddle slipped.

The Stewards interviewed Mr P.W. Mullins concerning his actions in the parade ring when mounted on Saldier (Fr) whereby he left the walkway to cross over through a crowded area in order to exit and make his way to the start. In evidence Mr P.W. Mullins stated that he had tried to bypass another horse that was in front of him and being unaware of the Regulation, he crossed over the parade ring to make his way to the horse gate. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr P.W. Mullins was in breach of R16 by crossing the parade ring in contravention of correct procedures. Having taken his clean previous record in this regard into consideration, the Stewards fined Mr P.W. Mullins €250.

The Stewards considered a report from the IHRB Starter Mr P.F. Graffin concerning the conduct of the riders prior to the running of this race and determined to refer the matter to the Registrar of the INHS Committee for his consideration.

209E Arthur Guinness H'cap H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Punters Poet, trained by Matthew J. Smith, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

C.A. Landers, rider of Convara trained by Miss Evanna McCutcheon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped very high.

P. Townend, rider of Punters Poet trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was hampered at the first and second hurdles.

209F Guinness Novice H'dle

The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the last hurdle and the winning post involving Enniskerry, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed second and M C Muldoon, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed first, where it appeared that both horses made contact. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence S.W. Flanagan stated that he switched his whip to his left hand and was unable to use it as M C Muldoon was lying up against his own horse in an intimidating manner. Mr P.W. Mullins stated that Enniskerry originally came out to meet his own mount and in trying to keep straight M C Muldoon moved inward but in his opinion had gained the upper hand which allowed him to stop using his whip in the closing stages. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while M C Muldoon had caused minimal interference to Enniskerry, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.

S.W. Flanagan, rider of Enniskerry trained by Barry Connell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference in the final furlong.

209G Guinness 0.0% H'cap H'dle

D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Bay Hill trained by Padraig Roche, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.

209H Guinness Time INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Thomas McGeough, Authorised representative of Declan Wall, trainer, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for Filey Bay. Evidence was heard from the trainer's representative who stated that Declan Wall had been hospitalised on Tuesday and Mr F. Maguire, Qualified Rider, had been unable to contact him on that day to confirm the riding arrangement. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation and took no action. They allowed the request for Mr F. Maguire to ride Filey Bay.
