The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Bronson In Blue, ridden by S.G. McDermott, and trained by Gavin Cromwell. Evidence was heard from the trainer's Authorised representative Ms Jennifer Murphy and the rider. Ms Murphy stated that Gavin Cromwell was not present at today's meeting and that she was not too familiar with the instructions given to the rider, however at a later stage of the enquiry she confirmed that she had spoken with the trainer and confirmed the instructions as stated by the rider. S.G. McDermott, rider, stated that he had spoken with G.N. Fox, rider attached to the Gavin Cromwell yard and also with the owner to familiarise himself with the riding instructions. He added that he was instructed to jump off wide and to be good and positive on his mount. He was to finish as close as possible. He explained that in running he had slapped his mount at the start to jump off smartly and was happy to get a lead from Raya Time (Fr). In his opinion the race was run at a slow pace in the early stages and his mount got flat footed when the pace quickened about six furlongs out. He confirmed that he had squeezed his mount but he had stayed on without getting any closer to the leaders. He described his mount as having limited pace that would probably be suited by a race over a longer distance. In summary Ms. Murphy relayed an observation from the trainer that he was not entirely satisfied with the ride and felt that he should have been more forceful on his mount in the latter stages from six furlongs out. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Bronson In Blue was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations. They did, however, caution S.G. McDermott to comply with the provisions of Rule 212 and be seen to make more of an effort. The Stewards also cautioned Gavin Cromwell, trainer, through his Authorised representative Ms Murphy, that his Representative in his absence must be familiar with the clear riding instructions given to a rider.

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Thekingofconnemara trained by John G. Carr, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped to the left throughout before being pulled up.

The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone , Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that C.J. Orr , rider of Polish Partisan , presented himself at scales to be weighed out at 2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had difficulty with this weight recently but his agent was reluctant to avail of the facility under Rule 195(i) where 2lbs overweight could be declared to H.R.I by the time of closing of nominations of riders. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that C.J. Orr was in breach of Rule 198 (vii)(a) and they therefore suspended him for 4 racedays having taken his previous record in this regard into consideration. The Stewards further requested C.J. Orr to consult with Dr Jennifer Pugh, IHRB Senior Medical Officer, in relation to his minimum weight and also to discuss with his agent Garry Cribben the importance of complying with the rules where the carrying of up to 2lbs overweight may be a possibility. The Stewards allowed C.J. Orr to ride Polish Partisan at 2lbs overweight.
