Anti-Doping Assistant (part-time)
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. The IHRB is responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish horseracing. It is also responsible for the licensing of all participants in Irish racing.
The IHRB wishes to recruit two technically minded, experienced administrators to work from its Curragh offices to support the Head of Anti-Doping/Chief Veterinary Officer. These are new regulatory roles, working alongside office and field-based professionals to administer the veterinary, scientific and anti-doping functions of the department.
Equine Welfare and Veterinary Services Assistant (full time)
Reporting to the Head of Anti-Doping/Chief Veterinary Officer, the main responsibilities will include:
- General veterinary and equine welfare administrative support including:
- Point of contact for trainers, veterinary surgeons and other stakeholders
- Point of contact for the IHRB Veterinary field team
- Administration of the Equine Welfare and Veterinary parts of the IHRB website
- Management of equine welfare and veterinary databases
- Scientific equine welfare and veterinary support
- Administration of IHRB Veterinary and Equine Welfare workload including:
- Project implementation
- Raceday equine injury data management
- Implementation of Rules and Policies
- Secretarial Assistant to the IHRB Veterinary and Equine Welfare Committee
- Researching media, scientific literature and product information
- Liaison with other IHRB departments in respect of the role
Anti-Doping Assistant (part-time)
Reporting to the Head of Anti-Doping/Chief Veterinary Officer, the main responsibilities will include:
- General Anti-Doping and administrative support including:
- Point of contact for trainers and veterinary surgeons and dealing with queries on anti-doping matters
- Point of contact for the IHRB Anti-Doping team
- Administration of the anti-doping parts of the IHRB website
- Scientific anti-doping support to the department
- Administration of the IHRB Anti-Doping workload including:
- Laboratory services logistics
- Raceday sampling process
- Sample receipt and results management
- Out-of-competition, sales and stud testing programme
- Preparation of case files
- Liaison with other IHRB departments in respect of the role
Both roles will support each other with some flexibility across functions required.
Experience/Skills required
Applicants should have:
- A sound veterinary, scientific or administrative background and a good knowledge of the Irish Thoroughbred Industry.
- Experience of administration including proven competence in data management and standard IT applications, ideally within a racing environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an effective team player
- The highest standards of integrity, diplomacy and discretion
An equine or scientific related qualification or an equine administrative qualification is desirable.
