BHA EQUINE INFLUENZA REQUIREMENTS FOR IRISH TRAINERS
13 February 2019Following last night’s announcement regarding the resumption of racing, this email provides further clarification on the additional requirements relating to equine influenza vaccinations, testing for equine influenza, and health declarations for international runners racing in Great Britain.
Vaccination
All horses must have received a vaccination against equine influenza within six months of the day of the race.
Please note that all other vaccination requirements within the BHA Rules of Racing continue to apply, including (E)18.6
(18.6 None of the vaccinations must have been given on the day of a race in which the horse is declared to run or on any of the 6 days before the race)
Testing for Equine Influenza: Specific requirement for non-GB runners
All runners from outside Great Britain wishing to race must provide a negative result for Equine Influenza from a nasopharyngeal swab (PCR) to the BHA, prior to the horse's arrival in Great Britain. The swab must have been taken within 72 hours of entry into Great Britain. Results should be emailed to [email protected].
Health Declaration Form
This must be completed by the Responsible Person for all horses on the day of the race. A copy of the form should be presented at the Racecourse Stables Office together with the horse’s passport – these documents MUST be presented BEFORE the horse is unloaded.
The form requires you to provide a temperature for the horse, taken prior to travel.
