The following trainers were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Mr. Thomas Mullins for Alderwood (stiff & sore) at Killarney on 26th August and Mr. C.A. McBratney for Spa Wells (stone bruise) at Galway on 27th August.

Madden, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Air Of Confusion (GB) in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Nash, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Your Busy in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. 226F Ryans Event Cleaners Handicap Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Clever Creation, trained by Mr. Michael Winters, was found to be lame on her right fore post race.

228B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap Hurdle & T.C. Carroll, rider of Isobella Blue (GB), trained by Mr. Thomas Foley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat in this race. The trainer subsequently reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 30th August that his charge was found to have a low grade infection post race.
228D Finola Guinnane, Miss Northern Ireland, Mares Maiden Hurdle & Mr. Thomas McLaughlin, trainer of Pink Connection, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have been struck into in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Pink Connection was found to be lame post race.
A representative for Mr. Peter Maher, trainer of Dear Bach, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the horse made a noise in running and was therefore pulled up.
Mr. John C. McConnell, trainer of Bienamado Irish, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not handle today’s ground.
228F Willie Murphy Jewellers, Downpatrick Handicap Hurdle & A.P. Thornton, rider of Strolling Home, trained by Mr. Patrick Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled coming down the hill on the approach to the penultimate hurdle.
Mr. J.F. O’Shea, trainer of Novarov (GER), reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge scoped badly post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
228G Alison Campbell Model Agency Ladies I.N.H. Flat Race & Miss A. Foley, rider of Lizzie Boy, trained by Mr. Neil McKnight, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount lost its action and was therefore pulled up.
Miss N. Carberry, rider of Warwickshire, trained by Mr. Kieran Purcell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount lost its action and hung left.
Galway Meeting, 29th August 2011
229A Donnelly’s Of Barna European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards requested a report from Mr Pat Keating, representing Mr. A.P. O’Brien, trainer of the winner Requisition, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Tipperary.
Mr Keating reported that the horse was unable to go the pace at Tipperary over seven furlongs on the good to firm ground. He added that today’s step up in trip on slightly easier ground allowed the horse take up a more prominent position and travel better through the race.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
F.M. Berry, rider of Positive Vibes, trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green, checked off heels leaving the back straight and hung off the final bend.
229E Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes & The Stewards enquired into an incident off the final bend involving the winner Zanughan, ridden by J.P. Murtagh, Address Unknown (GB), ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed third, Clare Glen ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed fifth, and Amazing Beauty, ridden by C. O’Donoghue, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action.
229F Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. John Joseph Murphy, trainer of the winner Goldplated, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Galway.
In light of the fact that the trainer was not present at the race meeting and had no registered representative or authorised representative forms lodged at scales in accordance with Rule 147(v), the Stewards referred the matter to the Turf Club for further investigation.
Clonmel Meeting, 1st September 2011
230C Carers Evening At Clonmel Handicap & The Stewards enquired into two incidents in the straight. The first incident involved the winner Six Silver Lane (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee, Kastania (USA), ridden by J.P. Murtagh, placed third, and Cat Fire, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced. The second incident involved Six Silver Lane (GB) and Be My Storm, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised both W.J. Lee, and J.P. Murtagh to ride with more care in future.
Mr. Steve McDonogh, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry and Mr. Paul F. Ronan acted as Chairman.
Mr. M.J. Phillips, trainer of Calle Aneto, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Friday 2nd September that his charge was found to have sore shins post race.
230D All Ireland Hurling Weekend Handicap & D.M. Grant, rider of Summer Glow, trained by Mr. John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left throughout this race.
230E Tipperary Home Of Hurling Hurdle & The Stewards received a report from Mr. W. Fleming, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr. C.L. Murphy, rider of Stamford Ridge, placed fifth had failed to weigh in.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had accidentally failed to weigh in.
Having considered the report, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Murphy was in breach of Rule 227, in that he failed to weigh in and was severely cautioned concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. Furthermore, Stamford Ridge was disqualified from fifth place in accordance with Rule 230.
230F Blue And Gold Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards received a report from Mr. E. McNamara, trainer of Shady Gloom, stating that he was unable to fit a tongue tie to his charge who had become fractious in the preliminaries.
The Stewards granted permission for Shady Gloom to run without a tongue tie in this race.
E.J. McNamara, rider of Shady Gloom, trained by Mr. E. McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung and jumped badly and was therefore pulled up.
P.D. Kennedy, rider of Ever Dreaming (USA), trained by Mr. J. Morrison, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was accidentally hampered in running and lost his place. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ever Dreaming (USA) was found to have been badly struck into on the left hind post race.
Ms. Maria Kelly, trainer of Bobs Hope, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge scoped badly post race.
Kilbeggan Meeting, 2nd September 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: N.P. Madden replaced K.T. Coleman (unwell) on Fastnowfast, trained by Mr. F. Costello (first race) and Mr. A.D. Doyle replaced Mr A.J. Doyle (Stewards permission) on Young Dale, trained by Mr. D.T. Hughes (seventh race).
231A Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle & B.T. O’Connell, rider of Anoosou (FR), trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped and hung left throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Anoosou (FR) was found to have slight inflammation/heat on his right foreleg post race.
Mr. F. Costello, trainer of Fastnowfast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have mucus on her lungs following an endoscopic examination post race.
231B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into an incident after the turn into the straight involving the winner Annie Other, ridden by J.J. Doyle, and Coscorrig, ridden by B.J. Cooper, placed third.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned J.J. Doyle to ride with more care in future.
231D Moate Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into an incident after the turn into the straight involving the winner Never A Secret, ridden by D.J. Condon, and Sea Of Eris, ridden by D.G. Hogan, placed fourth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden improperly. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for three race days (16th, 17th and 19th September).
231E Midland Breeders Supporting Kilbeggan Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards interviewed G.N. Fox, rider of Imperial Shabra, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G.N. Fox was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency without giving his mount time to respond. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities.
231F Tullamore Handicap Steeplechase & D.G. Hogan, rider of Classic Frontier, trained by Mr. P.G. Coffey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
B. Hayes, rider of King Of Redfield, trained by Mr. John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
231G Athlone I.N.H. Flat Race & Miss K.J. Harrison, rider of Oh So Sweet, trained by Mrs C. Harrison, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped heels in the closing stages.
Leopardstown Meeting, 3rd September 2011
232A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & B.A. Curtis, rider of Jeremy’s Girl, trained by Mr. Lester Winters, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly and struggled on the bends.
232B Kilternan Stakes & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Viscount Nelson, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, was found to be blowing hard post race.
232D Leopardstown.com Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately two furlongs from the finish involving Dawariya, ridden by J.P. Murtagh, placed second, Elusive Award (USA), ridden by B.A. Curtis, Malayan Mist, ridden by P.J. Smullen, and Aznavour, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, all unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.P. Murtagh was guilty of careless riding in accordance with Rule 214. Having taken his recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for four race days.
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Cornakill (USA), ridden by S.H. James, placed fifth, and New Magic, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, after it appeared that the latter ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S.H. James was guilty of careless riding in accordance with Rule 214. Having taken his recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for one race day (17th September).
The Stewards informed Mr. Noel Meade, trainer of Leceile (USA), that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
B.A. Curtis, rider of Elusive Award (USA), trained by Mr. A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount clipped heels in the straight.
232E Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes & C. O’Donoghue, rider of Recital (FR), trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free throughout.
232G Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Maiden & D.M. Grant, rider of South South West, trained by Mr. Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very green.
Dundalk Meeting, 4th September 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: L.F. Roche replaced R.P. Whelan (injured) on War, trained by Mr. J.A. Nash (eighth race).
233B LM/FM Raceday Handicap & P.J. Smullen, rider of Lucky Spring, trained by Mr. Patrick Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Lucky Spring was found to be post race normal.
D.M. Grant, rider of Binocular (GB), trained by Mr. Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very flat throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Binocular (GB) was found to be post race normal.
233D Lough/Meath/Westmeath I.T.B.A. Race & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Patrick Keating, representing Mr. A.P. O’Brien, trainer of the winner East Meets West, regarding the apparent improvement in form of the horse compared to his previous run at York on 17th August when he finished 11th of 13 runners and was beaten a total of 22 lengths.
Mr. Keating reported that the horse did not handle the ground at York (good/soft), and that, in his opinion, today’s better ground brought about an improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
233E LMRFM Birthday Celebration At Dundalk Stadium Maiden & J.P. Murtagh, rider of Saratoga Baby, trained by Mr. G.M. Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well until the turn for home but found nothing thereafter. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Saratoga Baby was found to be distressed post race.
233F Friday Horse Racing Returns 23rd September Handicap & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving the winner Liberty To Rock, ridden by C.D. Hayes, and Grainne Whale, ridden by S. Foley, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
M.C. Hussey, rider of Royal Orbitros, trained by Mr. J.T. Gorman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly at the end of the back straight and that he to steer the horse thereafter.
E233G(i) [email protected] (Division One) & The Stewards reviewed a recording of the closing stages of this race to examine the reason for the falls of Caracal (GB), ridden by E.J. McNamara, Peccatorum, ridden by F.M. Berry, and Winnie Minnie, ridden by W.J. Lee.
Having reviewed the recording, the Stewards were satisfied that Winnie Minnie had sustained a serious injury which resulted in her fall and that she in turn brought down Caracal (GB) and Peccatorum. The incident was deemed accidental in nature.
The Stewards were unable to interview W.J. Lee and F.M. Berry as they were kept under Medical supervision, but they did receive a report from E.J. McNamara, who confirmed the Stewards observations.
Mr. H. Lappin, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
233G(ii) [email protected] Handicap (Division Two) & M.C. Hussey, rider of The Ice Factor (GB), trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was outpaced throughout.
J.P. Murtagh, rider of Scoot My Friend, trained by Mr. G.M. Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost a near fore shoe in running.
