Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence P. Carberry stated that this horse can be keen in his races and had run very keenly on his last run at Tipperary. His instructions for today’s race were to drop the horse out early on, give him a chance to get into the race and arrive with a late run. He also stated that the horse became a bit keen on the first circuit, met with slight interference in running, jumped the last three fences with no great fluency and ran on at the finish. He added that he felt his mount might win when delivering his challenge, but the horse tired close home.
In his evidence Mr. Meade confirmed the instructions. He stated that this was only the horse’s third chase run and he wanted him to get every chance to jump well against these more experienced rivals. He stated that he was happy with the ride, but with the benefit of hindsight, felt that perhaps the horse could have been ridden closer to the pace, while accepting that things did not go according to plan during the race.

Martin, trainer of the winner Another Ambition, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run over fences at Roscommon on the 12th June where he finished last of six finishers (from an original field of sixteen horses) and was beaten 64 lengths by the winner Campbonnais.
Mr. Martin reported that this ten year old has competed successfully in the past and has been mixing it over hurdles and steeplechases recently. He said he was not able to pinpoint any particular reason why his charge disappointed over fences at Roscommon other than the fact that the horse was fitted with a tongue strap for the first time that day. The horse then returned to action over hurdles at Bellewstown and ran a very good race with the tongue strap retained. He said that the fancied runners in today’s race failed to complete for one reason or another and his charge kept galloping on at the finish to beat lesser opposition
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence Mr. Martin stated that this was a weak, backward filly making her first appearance on a racecourse. He instructed the rider to give her every chance, not get her on her head, get her to run well, finish as best as possible and not to use the whip. He said he was satisfied with the ride and expects improvement to come from his charge. He concluded by saying that they will possibly switch from a snaffle to a chifney bit on her in the future.
In his evidence R.M. Moran confirmed the instructions and stated that this was a four year old filly having her first run. He said his mount avoided the trouble at the first hurdle and ran green, but generally jumped well apart from the first hurdle. He said she began to hang left after the third last hurdle and missed the second last hurdle. He concluded by saying that, against instructions, he hit her twice then put the whip away and just rode hands and heels to the finish.
