Having considered the evidence, the Stewards reminded Mr. Nagle that, as this behaviour also occurred at Navan, arrangements should have been put in place to proceed to the start early. Evidence was heard from Mr. Ger Flynn, authorised representative of Mr. J.S. Bolger.
Mr. Flynn stated that this horse has always shown a lot at home, but failed to deliver on the track until today. He said that at Navan last time the horse was drawn wide in a big field and could never get competitive. The ground was also yielding that day and Late Debate (USA) was eased in the home straight when it was obvious he was not competitive. He said that today’s rider felt his mount acted very well on the ground (good to firm, firm in places). Therefore, he attributed any improvement in form to today’s better ground.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.

098A Killarney Towers Hotel Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference both before the second last hurdle and before the final hurdle involving City Line, ridden by D.E. Splaine, placed second, and Luddenmore, ridden by R.J. Jones, placed third.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Unconditional, ridden by R. Loughran, and trained by Mr. C. Roche.
Evidence was heard from the rider and the trainers’ representative Mr. Frank Berry.
In his evidence Mr. Berry stated that the rider was instructed to give his mount a chance to settle in mid division and to finish as close as possible. He added that the filly became upset prior to the race and lost her place early which left her further back in the race than planned. In watching the race he felt that the rider could have been more forceful in his handling in the latter stages, however, on realising that the mare was found to be lame post race, he considered that the rider had ridden with the filly’s welfare of prime importance. Depending on the extent of the lameness and a hopeful recovery to full fitness, he said he expected this filly to have a summer campaign.
In  his evidence R. Loughran confirmed the instructions and added that his mount got excitable before the race, was brought to a standstill at the first hurdle and later began to lean and hang at the end of the back straight. He added that the horse’s action appeared to shorten over the last three hurdles and she appeared to be lame on returning to the unsaddling area. He confirmed that he had kept a good hold of his mount in the latter stages.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, stating that Unconditional was found to be lame post race.
In view of the Veterinary report, the Stewards took no further action.

098B Ross Golf Club Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference on the approach to the first hurdle in the back straight involving Zagman, ridden by D.N. Russell, placed second, and Aliceaneileen, ridden by D.J. Casey, which ran out.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
In his evidence D.J. Casey stated that his mount was a very difficult ride and ran very free. He added that the filly was hanging badly and that he was shouting at D.N. Russell. He was not aware of any contact between the two horses before he ran out.
In his evidence D.N. Russell stated that he was unaware of any horse being on his inner as he felt that he approached this island hurdle on an inside route. He added that he did not hear any shouting from D.J. Casey and did not feel that there was any contact prior to this incident.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They did, however, caution both riders concerning the accuracy of their evidence. They commented that the video coverage proved inconclusive and therefore gave the benefit of the doubt in this instance.

T.J. Doyle, rider of Viaduct Joey, trained by Mr. Terence O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount may benefit from a longer trip. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Viaduct Joey was found to be post race normal.

098C Ladbrokes.com Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed Mr. Michael Hourigan, trainer, concerning his failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for his charge False Economy.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that he had booked R. Walsh a few days ago and he was confident that he would renew his partnership with this gelding on which he had previously won on. Late on Friday morning Mr. W.P. Mullins claimed R. Walsh to ride his charge Pozyc and included the condition that overweight would be allowed.
Mr. Hourigan added that he did get sufficient notice about this, but was reluctant to nominate his own rider A.P. Heskin as he had not been passed fit following a recent injury. He said that R. Walsh was attempting to ride at around ten stone, which may not have materialised and this may have left him available to ride False Economy.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards severely cautioned Mr. Hourigan concerning his responsibility to comply with Rule 195 (1) and reminded him that they had noticed that he had engaged A.P. Heskin to ride in a hurdle race and a steeplechase later in the day.

A.P. Crowe, rider of Fever Pitch, trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.

098D Kelly Brothers Farm Modernisation Limited Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. A.J. Martin, trainer of the winner Sensational Sema, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with her previous run at Gowran Park on the 5th March, when the horse finished 13th of 19 finishers and was beaten 32 lengths by the winner The Buck.
Mr. Martin reported that, in his opinion, there were a few contributing factors to today’s victory, including the step up in the trip from two miles to two miles and six furlongs and today’s better ground conditions. He also stated that the mare had time off since her last run which was her first outing in a handicap from which she has shown improvement.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.

Mr. Conor O’Dwyer, trainer of Ferris Bueller (GB), reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to have a respiratory tract infection following an endoscopic examination post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

Mr. Ruaidhri Joseph Tierney, trainer of Boland’s Corner (GER), reported to a Turf Club Official that his charge was found to be lame post race.

McNamara, Celestial Way, ridden by Mr. T. Donworth, both unplaced, Prince Of Diamonds, ridden by Mr. M.M. O’Connor, a faller, Kaylas Charm, ridden by Mr. N.M. Kelly, brought down, Zerdiyan, ridden by Mr. J.T. Carroll, brought down, and Our Old Pal, ridden by Mr. P.W. Mullins, unseated rider.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. T. Donworth had ridden carelessly, and having taken his record into account, the Stewards suspended him for four race days (30th and 31st May and 2nd and 5th June) and cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

Mr. P.J. McMahon, rider of Twill Stand To Us, trained by Mr. Eugene M. O’Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference in the back straight.
