Owners & Handlers of horses who wish to run at Limerick (F) Bruff on Sunday, 25th September 2011 should ensure that relevant Hunter Certificates are lodged at the Office of the Governing Bodies, The Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare for registration no later than close of business on Thursday, 8th September 2011.
Owners & Handlers of horses who wish to run at Mid Antrim (H) on Saturday 1st October & Westmeath (F) on Sunday 2nd October should ensure that relevant Hunter Certificates are lodged at the Office of the Governing Bodies, The Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare for registration no later than close of business on Thursday, 15th September 2011.

Tramore Meeting, 14th August 2011
208E O’Shea’s Hotel Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Swift Counsel, trained by Mr. John O’Callaghan, was found to be injured post race.
Roscommon Meeting, 15th August 2011
210B I.F.A. Race Day Handicap & Mr. Marcus Callaghan, trainer of Patrickswell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not handle today’s ground.
210D Hillstreet Quarries Jog For Jockeys Flat V National Hunt Riders Challenge Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. M. Flannery, trainer of the winner Long Wait, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Ballinrobe.
Mr. Flannery reported that the horse disappointed at Ballinrobe when never really getting into the race. He added that the soft ground and the long straight today helped his charge stay in touch.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final furlong involving the winner, Long Wait, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, and Second Glance, ridden by F.M. Berry, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
P. Carberry, rider of One For Joules, trained by Mr. John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that One For Joules was found to be coughing post race.
210E Lydon House Catering Hurdle & M.P. Walsh, rider of Devil’s Elbow (GB), trained by Mr. T.M. Walsh, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly in the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Devil’s Elbow (GB) was found to be blowing hard post race.
210F County Roscommon Hunt Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last hurdle involving the winner Wither Hills, ridden by A.E. Lynch, and Isobella Blue (GB), ridden by T.C. Carroll, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that, while interference had occurred, the winner had not improved his position as a result and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. However, the Stewards were of the opinion that A.E. Lynch had ridden carelessly, and having taken his good record in this regard into account, they therefore suspended him for two race days (29th August and 1st September).
Sligo Meeting, 16th August 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: M.C. Hussey rode Genuine Hawk (Stewards permission), trained by Mr. Thomas Cleary (first race).
211B www.countysligoraces.com Claiming Race & Mr. S. Donohoe, trainer of Rum King (USA), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
J.P. Murtagh, rider of Flash McGahon, trained by Mr. John M. Oxx, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly before the turn into the straight.
211C Follow Sligo On Facebook Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Tracey Collins, trainer of the winner Indian Landing, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s previous runs at Roscommon on the 9th May and at the Curragh on the 22nd May.
Ms. Collins reported that her horses were generally under a cloud for a long period and she began to train this gelding differently by turning him out into a paddock after daily exercise. She noticed that he began to freshen up and his work also improved where he showed speed, something that he had failed to show earlier in the season. Consequently he was dropped back in trip.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
The Stewards enquired into two incidents in the latter stages of this race. The first incident occurred soon after the road crossing in the straight involving Missile Command, ridden by D.J. Benson, placed second, Draoicht, ridden by S.H. James, placed third, and Christmas Birthday, ridden by W.J. Supple, placed fifth, after it appeared that the latter ran short of room.
The second incident occurred at the 200 yard marker and involved Sacre Fleur, ridden by D.A. Parkes, placed fourth, and Croce Rossa, ridden by B.A. Curtis, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the first incident was accidental in nature and therefore took no further action. In relation to the second incident, the Stewards cautioned D.A. Parkes to ride with more care in the future.
Mr. Patrick Martin, representing Mr. G.M. Lyons, Master of D.J. Benson, also attended this enquiry.
Dr. J.F. Gillespie, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
A representative for Mr. G.M. Lyons, trainer of Suspect Device, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the horse choked in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Suspect Device was found to be blowing hard post race.
211E Rosses Point Handicap & J.P. Murtagh, rider of Dawariya, trained by Mr. John M. Oxx, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well before the turn into the straight, but found nothing off the bridle.The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Dawariya was found to be blowing hard post race.
Bellewstown Meeting, 17th August 2011
The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. J.C. Hayden for Danehill Tapdaner (off feed).
212A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden & J.P. Murtagh rider of Kashmir Peak, trained by Mr. G.M. Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung right in the straight.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that All Approved (GB), trained by Mr. P.D. Deegan, was found to have fractured his upper gum prior to racing.
212B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & A.P. Thornton, rider of Matua Flyer, trained by Mr. J. Larkin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount missed the break and was unable to get competitive thereafter.
212C(i) jogforjockeys.ie Handicap (Division One) & The Stewards received a report from Mr. W. Fleming, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the failure of J.C. Tobin, rider of Hyden, placed fourth, to weigh in after this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he became distracted and accidentally failed to weigh in.
Having considered the report, the Stewards disqualified Hyden from fourth place in accordance with Rule 230(ii). In addition the Stewards suspended J.C. Tobin for two race days (1st and 4th September) for being in breach of Rule 227(i) and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee. The result now reads: 1st Secret Hero, 2nd Grainne Whale, 3rd Blue Eyed Miss, 4th Jacks Law.
The Stewards interviewed J.C. Tobin, rider of Hyden, placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.C. Tobin was in breach of Regulation 10 2(f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency, and having taken his record into account, they therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. Furthermore, he was instructed to attend R.A.C.E. for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.
212C(ii) jogforjockeys.ie Handicap (Division Two) & The Stewards enquired into an incident before the turn into the straight involving Xsquared, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed fourth, Strut In Style, ridden by P.J. Smullen, Miss Formidable, ridden by G.F. Carroll, and The Gnathologist, ridden by C.D. Hayes, all unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one rider. However, the Stewards reminded the riders collectively of their responsibilities to ride with more care in future.
J.P. Murtagh, rider of King’s Jester, trained by Mr. Lee Smyth, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount had to check to avoid interference before the turn into the straight.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Royal Bertie, trained by Mr. D. Broad, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unbalanced throughout.
212D Glebe House Stud Nursery Handicap & The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Clubland, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, and trained by Mr. Andrew Slattery.
Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence D.P. McDonogh stated that his instructions were to drop the horse in and try to get him to finish as he only barely gets the trip. He added that the horse was unbalanced throughout and was denied a clear run in the straight. The rider also revealed to the Stewards that his knee was sore having received a kick from a horse while unsaddling in an earlier race and that he had been receiving treatment since then.
In his evidence Mr. Slattery confirmed the instructions and added that his charge is a small horse who did not seem to act well on the track.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
B.A. Curtis, rider of She’s My Dandy, trained by Mr. Liam McAteer, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount shied away from the whip.
212E Lougher Stables Handicap & The Stewards requested Turf Club Medical Officer, Dr. Adrian McGoldrick, to examine D.P. McDonogh, prior to riding Mt Weather in this race. The rider was subsequently passed fit to ride.
The Stewards informed Mr. M. Halford, trainer of Ellxell, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.Z
212F www.thetote.com Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. C.F. Swan, trainer of the winner Zaralabad, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Galway.
Mr. Swan reported that things did not really go the horse’s way at Galway having been drawn very wide in a messy race. He added that the return to a track where he has won three times in the past had helped his charge return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
P.J. Smullen, rider of London Bridge (GB), trained by Mr. Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that London Bridge (GB) was found to be post race normal.
212G Hilltown (Q.R) Flat Race & Mr. B. O’Neill, rider of Catch The Moment, trained by Mr. Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stood in the stalls and lost considerable ground as a result.
York Meeting, 18th August 2011
Darley Yorkshire Oaks (British Champions' Series) & Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Laughing Lashes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries at the Curragh on 20th August that her charge was found to have an elevated temperature post race.
Bellewstown Meeting, 18th August 2011

213B www.angloprinters.ie Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed P. Townend, rider of Inspector Clouseau, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that P. Townend was in breach of Regulation 10 3(b) in that he had used his whip without giving his mount sufficient time to respond. Having taken his record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
213F Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of God’s County (FR), trained by Mr. T.M. Walsh, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. The trainer subsequently confirmed this to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, who in turn notified the Stewards.
213H Lester Piggott At Bellewstown Ladies I.N.H. Flat Race & Miss A. Foley, rider of Bridgets Pet, trained by Mr. Kieran Purcell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount hung right in this race.
Tipperary Meeting, 18th August 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: R.P. Whelan replaced K.J. Manning (see enquiry) on Teo’s Sister, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger (fourth race).
214B Camas Park Stud European Breeders Fund Maiden & G.F. Carroll, rider of Miss Ellany, trained by Mr. P.F. O’Donnell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his leather opened and that he lost an iron in the early stages.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Requisition, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, was found to be post race normal.
214C Mocklershill Stables Race & The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the late arrival of K.J. Manning, the declared rider of Teo’s Sister, necessitating a change of rider.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was delayed returning from riding in England.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned K.J. Manning concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
P.J. Smullen, rider of Northern Rocked, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
K. Latham, rider of Skyway, trained by Mr. Takashi Kodama, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount needs a step back up in trip.
214D Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fairy Bridge Stakes & S. Sanders, rider of Hooray (GB), trained by Sir Mark Prescott Bt (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he tried to restrain his mount from stalls, but the horse ran freely, suffered interference and was checked shortly thereafter.
K. Latham, rider of Wild Wind (GER), trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to get a clear run in the straight.
A Representative for Mr. A.P. O’Brien, trainer of Eirnin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the horse stumbled before the turn into the straight and suffered an overreach.
214E Costello’s Tavern Race & The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Port Elizabeth, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fourth, Akasaka, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed fifth, and Oh What A Kitten (USA), ridden by P.J. Smullen, unplaced, after it appeared that Port Elizabeth had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned P.J. Smullen to ride with more care in future.
P.J. Smullen, rider of Oh What A Kitten (USA), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act well in first time blinkers. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Oh What A Kitten (USA) was found to be post race normal.
214F Glenvale Stud Handicap & Mr. Edward Lynam, trainer of Westtower Boy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge slipped in this race.
214G Gain Horse Feeds Supporting Southern Region ITBA Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from a representative of Mr. Gerard O’Leary, trainer of the winner Crusoe’s Return (GB), regarding the apparent improvement in form of the horse compared to the animal’s previous run at Leopardstown.
The trainer’s representative reported that the horse did not see out the two mile trip at Leopardstown which was his first run back after a long break.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving the winner Crusoe’s Return (GB), ridden by P. Shanahan, Hanger Five, ridden by D.M. Grant, placed fourth, and Prince Of Fashion, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, after it appeared that the latter had to check.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that P. Shanahan had ridden carelessly, and having taken his excellent record into account, they therefore cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

Kilbeggan Meeting, 19th August 2011
215B Pat Doyle Memorial Maiden Hurdle & Mr. A.K. Wyse, trainer of Miracle House, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to have mucus in his trachea following an endoscopic examination post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
215C(i) Kinnegad Handicap Hurdle (Division One) & B.J. Cooper, rider of Baby’s Hot, trained by Mr. D.T. Hughes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made several noises in running and was therefore pulled up.
P. Carberry, rider of St Killian’s Run, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and jumped poorly on today’s ground.
215D Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle & P.F. Mangan, rider of Ever Dreaming (USA), trained by Mr. J. Morrison, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s ground.
215E Follow Kilbeggan On Facebook Beginners Steeplechase & A.P. Thornton, rider of Jozara, trained by Mr. Muredach Kelly, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made several mistakes and was therefore pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Jozara was found to have a grazed off fore post race.
215F Loughnagore Handicap Steeplechase & B.J. Geraghty, rider of The Baler, trained by Mr. J.P. Dempsey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The trainer reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge may not have handled today’s ground which changed after significant rain. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that The Baler was found to be lame post race.
215G Shureen I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. M.T. Byrne, rider of Bawnlusk, trained by Mr. Kieran Purcell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
Miss C.M. Woods, rider of Fighting Kate, trained by Mr. Peter Maher, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount made a noise and was therefore pulled up.
Wexford Meeting, 19th August 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: R. Coakley replaced C.T. Keane (Stewards permission) on The Fox Tully, trained by Mr. Gerard Keane (third race).
The Stewards fined the following trainers €200 each in respect of their non-runners: Mr. P. Cashman for Extra Steps (declared in error) and Mr. D.K. Weld for Universal Truth (withdrawn – ground conditions).
216B Pinnacle Handicap & The Stewards interviewed J.P. O’Brien, rider of the winner Snap Alam, concerning his use of the whip in the straight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he could have given his mount more time to respond.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.P. O’Brien was in breach of Regulation 10(3), in that he failed to give his mount sufficient time to respond and they therefore suspended him for one race day (4th September).
S. Foley, rider of Aragorn Icon, trained by Mr. David Marnane, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. A representative for the trainer reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that the horse was found to be coughing post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
B.A. Curtis, rider of Jouster, trained by Mr. A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
216C I.T.B.A. (Southeast Region) Supporting Wexford Maiden & C.D. Hayes, rider of Razmataz, trained by Mr. Mark L. Fagan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly throughout.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Red Allie, trained by Ms. Joanna Morgan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free in the early stages.
M.A. Enright, rider of Mind The Steps, trained by Mr. David Martin Kelly, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount became unbalanced and did not handle today’s track. He also reported that he held the horse together and the animal stayed on in the straight.
216F jogforjockeys.ie Handicap & The Stewards received complaints from Mr. Tom Early, Security Officer, and from Mr. M.F. O’Donoghue, Turf Club Acting Steward, in relation to the behaviour of Mr. T. J. O’Mara, trainer.
Evidence was heard from Mr. Early, who stated that Mr. O’Mara had spoken to him in a threatening manner in the vicinity of the jockey’s room.
Evidence was also heard from Mr. O Mara, who accepted that he became upset with the security officer when attempting to make entry to the jockey’s room with his child.
Evidence was also heard from Mr. O’Donoghue, who stated that Mr. O’Mara had spoken to him and Mr. Early in a threatening manner in the weigh room (this being the second incident.).
Evidence was also heard from Dr. A. McGoldrick, Turf Club Medical Officer, and Mr. D. Cullen, Turf Club Starter, who both confirmed that they witnessed Mr. O ‘Mara’s behaviour in the weigh room.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. O’ Mara was in breach of Rule 272, and having taken his record in this regard into account and the fact that he apologised to all concerned, the Stewards fined Mr O’Mara €1000 and reminded him that any reoccurrence of this behaviour may render him liable to a referral to the Licensing Committee.
Mr. M.F. O’Donoghue, did not act at this enquiry and was replaced on the panel by Mr. S. Quinn.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that King Of Redfield was found to be lame on his right fore post race.
216G Enniscorthy I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. John E. Kiely, trainer of Kilbarry Classic, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.

217A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & K.J. Manning, rider of Miracle Cure, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well until half way, lost his action and weakened quickly. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Miracle Cure was found to be post race normal.
217C Irish Field St Leger Trail Stakes & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving the winner Fictional Account, ridden by F.M. Berry, Fame And Glory (GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed second, and Saddler’s Rock, ridden by J.P. Murtagh, placed third.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Fame And Glory (GB), trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, was found to be post race normal.
217D Loder European Breeders Fund Fillies Race & P.J. Smullen, rider of Sophies Echo, trained by Mr. W. McCreery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was reluctant in front and hung both ways in the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Sophies Echo was found to be post race normal.
217E Galileo European Breeders Fund Futurity Stakes & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving, David Livingston, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed fourth, Vault, ridden by W.J. Lee, and Cheerful Giver, ridden by R.P. Cleary, both unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Cleary was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly and they therefore suspended him for two race days (4th and 5th September).
217F Tote Jackpot Race 306 Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. J.C. Hayden, trainer of the winner Eur Elusive, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to her previous run at Naas.
Mr. Hayden reported that his charge disappointed at Naas in an apprentice race over a trip of one mile, but that had been her first run after a break. He added that his stable runners now appear to be in better form and this, coupled with the drop in trip to six furlongs, had helped his charge to return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
Mr. Joseph G. Murphy, trainer of Sextons House, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 22nd August that his charge was found to be lame on his off fore post race.

218A Tote Placepot Races 1 To 6 Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed Mr. G.T. Lynch, trainer of Miss Anderson, regarding the poor performance of his charge.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned.
Following the running of this race Miss Anderson was examined by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, at the request of the Stewards, and was found to be post race normal.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss Anderson had failed to meaningfully compete (Rule 212 b), and having taking her previous record in this regard into account, they therefore suspended the horse for 60 day’s.
218B John Monroe Haulage Handicap Hurdle & Mr. P.J. Rothwell, trainer of Flaithiuleacht, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge hung badly left.
N.P. Madden, rider of Highdownhill (NZ), trained by Mr. Niall Madden, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground.
218C E.P.S. Pumps Handicap Hurdle & M.J. Bolger, rider of Magical Memoir, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground.
Mr. Niall Madden, trainer of Shake The Bucket, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge received a cut his hind leg in running.
218F Corrib Oil Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Frank Berry, representing Mr. C. Roche, trainer of the winner Stakers (NZ), regarding the apparent improvement in form of the horse compared to his previous run at Roscommon on 2nd August where he finished last of fourteen finishers and was beaten 44 lengths.
Mr. Berry reported that the horse was ridden more prominently at Roscommon and ran very keen. Today, however, he was dropped out and stayed on well. This, in his opinion, may have brought about today’s improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
Andrew J. McNamara, rider of Judge Roy Bean, trained by Mr. E.J. O’Grady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
A.D. Leigh, rider of Native Palm, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 23rd August that his mount never travelled on the ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Native Palm was found to be post race normal.
