The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor (in the Chair), Mr. P.N. Reynolds and Mrs. T.K. Cooper, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Thursday, 22nd March, 2007, to consider an appeal from Mr. Edward Cawley, Trainer, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Thurles on 8th March, 2007, when following the running of the C.J. Sheeran Ltd. Maiden Hurdle, Division Two, the Stewards were of the opinion that the racecourse had been used as a training ground and they suspended the animal, “Double Attraction”, trained by Mr. Cawley, for forty two days and fined him €1,000.  Evidence was heard from Michael O’Donoghue, Turf Club Official, Edward Cawley, Trainer, Philip A. Carberry, Rider, and a film of the race was also viewed.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body dismissed the Appeal.

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, and Mr. A.R. Coonan of Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, represented Mr. Edward Cawley.
