The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Highland Mist, ridden by C. Horgan, and trained by Andrew Slattery. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. C. Horgan stated that his intructions were to try break smart and ride a race from there. He added that his mount didn't handle the surface the last day and was green but felt he wasn't handling the surface tonight again and his head was a bit high. He stated that when his mount got daylight he started to waver left and right and also drifted right in the final two hundred yards. He further added that his mount stumbled after the line. Andrew Slattery confirmed the instructions given and stated that his charge is a big horse and didn't handle Dundalk previously but wanted to get a run in to him. Regarding the ride given he stated that he was satisfied with the ride considering the type of horse he is and stated he was delighted with how the horse ran. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Highland Mist was examined and found to have a blood stained discharge on his right nostril post race. Furthermore she added that the blood was clotted and the colour was dark suggesting it may have been old. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found C. Horgan and Andrew Slattery in breach of Rule 212A(ii). Having taken their respective records into account the Raceday Stewards (i) suspended C.
