The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Run For Mary, trained by C.Byrnes, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
D.N. Russell, rider of Run For Mary trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having jumped very poorly and lost her action.
159B Armatas Fire & Security Ltd. M'dn H'dleThe Stewards fined Miss Suzy Barkley, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Falkland Castle, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Falkland Castle in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90.
A. Ring, rider of Licklighter trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was tight for room after jumping the final hurdle.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Mam Trasna, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be slightly lame post race.
At the request of the Stewards, D.N. Russell, rider of Mam Trasna, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake at the fifth last hurdle and recovered to get back into contention but had nothing more to offer at the latter stages of this race.
The Stewards interviewed L. Quinlan, rider of Dedanann, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that L. Quinlan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by failing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended L. Quinlan for 3 racedays.
159E Apple Recruitment H'cap H'dleThe Stewards interviewed D.G. Hogan, rider of Ozzie's Way, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by failing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D.G. Hogan for 1 raceday.
The Stewards interviewed J.M. Moore, rider of Static Jack, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned which included a statement that his mount hung badly which in his opinion had cost him the winning of the race but had failed to report this fact at the first instance. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that a number of hits before the second last hurdle were to prevent his mount from hanging but the remaining hits with the whip amounted to a breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that J.M. Moore was in breach of Rule 213 (ii) by failing to report at first instance any matter that may have affected his mounts performance. Having taken his previous record into consideration for both breaches, the Stewards cautioned J.M. Moore on each account.
At the request of the Stewards, K.C. Sexton, rider of Vocarium, trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled independently while racing along the back straight.
159F Tughans (Fillies) INH Flat RaceThe Stewards interviewed Mr K.M. Smith, rider of Springsteen's Girl, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr K.M. Smith was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr K.M. Smith for 1 raceday.
The Stewards interviewed Mr T. Hamilton, rider of Snegurochka, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that two hits with the whip were used for corrective purposes where there was no running rail and the remaining hits did not breach R10(3). The Stewards, therefore, accepted the explanation offered.
