The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Doune Castle (GB), ridden by Dylan Johnston, and trained by Noel C. Kelly. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. Dylan Johnston, rider, stated that as his mount can be keen, he was instructed to jump off towards rear and to do his best. He added that his mount was getting into the race when pecking badly at the second last hurdle which knocked the wind out of him. He allowed his mount to fill up and drove him into the last hurdle and on towards the finish where he galloped past horses on the uphill run. He reminded the Stewards that his mount made a noise at the second last hurdle. Daniel Fitzsimmons, Authorised representative of Noel C. Kelly, trainer, confirmed the riding instructions and stated that the race was run at a fast pace and most of the runners stopped in the latter stages while his own charge kept galloping to the line. He added that the two horses that gave trouble at the start may have caused his charge to be further back than intended but overall he was happy with the ride. He confirmed that his charge had previous issues with his wind. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Doune Castle (GB) was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.
