263A Ir.Stal.Farms EBF 'Bold Lad' Sprint Hcap

The Stewards requested a report from Charles O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Big Gossey, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Eileen Furlong, Authorised Representative for the trainer, reported that Big Gossey is a temperamental individual that has had behavioural issues down at the start and as a result of this, is on the starters list for loading late. She said that although the rider was dislodged down at the start today, the animal behaved well and broke smart from the stalls. She added that they had removed the tongue tie today in order to help settle her charge and also pointed out that Big Gossey was dropped 2lbs since its last run. She concluded by stating that a combination of all these factors had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards informed Edward Lynam, trainer that Major Power, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Still Standing, ridden by S. Foley, unplaced, Magic Chegaga, ridden by J.M. Sheridan, unplaced and Prairie Dancer, ridden by M.A. Gallagher, unplaced, where it appeared that Still Standing ran short of room on the railing. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Foley, stated that in what he felt was a slowly run race, he got tight for room on the railing when the pace picked up. M.A. Gallagher, stated that his mount had travelled very free throughout and may have shifted slightly in the closing stages. J.M. Sheridan stated that his mount hung right throughout. He added that a gap appeared and when he took the opportunity to fill that gap his mount interfered with the horse on his inner despite his best efforts to keep it straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that J.M. Sheridan had taken reasonable steps to avoid causing interference and therefore took no further action.

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Magic Chegaga trained by Thomas Gibney, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right throughout.

M.A. Gallagher, rider of Prairie Dancer trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran free throughout.
