The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

A.J.Martin, trainer of The Rebel Knight (late withdrawal) - €200.

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

P. J. Cawley replaced R.J. Condon on Casamari Abbey, trained by P.A.Fahy (Race 5)(Injured)

002A GAIN Rated Novice H'dle

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Hes A Hardy Bloke, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed first, Takarengo, ridden by Jack Brendan Foley, placed second and Annie Pender, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, placed third, where it appeared that Takarengo got tight for room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

002B CorkRacecourse.ie M'dn H'dle

P. Townend, rider of Gjoumi (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very free.

At the request of the Stewards, S.F. O'Keeffe, rider of Champagne Izzy, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount can be very keen and wears a hood to help it settle. Furthermore, he added that his mount settled much better today having being dropped back in trip and as a result it jumped more fluently and finished out its race today.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Mahons Glory, trained and ridden by Denis Gerard Hogan. Evidence was heard from Denis Gerard Hogan, who stated that his charge is not a straight forward animal and wears a hood to help it settle. He stated that his intentions going out were to sit fifth or sixth. get his mount to settle as it had ran keen previously and that he was fairly confident that he would finish in the first three. Furthermore, he stated that his mount was still keen until getting cover, but saw out its race well and he felt he had achieved his best possible finishing position having finished a distant second to what he felt was a very good winner. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Mahons Glory was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation given.

002C Happy New Year From All At Cork Mdn Hdle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Pat's Pick, trained by Noel Meade, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nostrils post race.

002D GAIN H'cap H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bon Retour, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

002E Thanks To All The Frontline Beg. S'chase

S.F. O'Keeffe, rider of Lady McCabe trained by Martin Paul Fitzgerald, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped slowly and made several jumping errors.

002F GAIN H'cap S'chase

Jack Brendan Foley, rider of Grand Partner, trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made several jumping errors.

002G Irish EBF (M) (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race

The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding a substantial early lead gained by Betty Zane, ridden by Mr. A. Murphy, who subsequently won this race involving Angels Dawn, ridden by Mr D. O'Connor, Dukes Mill, ridden by Miss S. Ahern, Feddans, ridden by Mr T. Feeney, Our Miss Power, ridden by Mr J.C. Barry, Back On The Bridle, ridden by Mr S. Fenelon, Birthday Bayeb, ridden by Jack Brendan Foley, California Breeze, ridden by Mr F. Maguire, Cute Cherry (GB), ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, Economic Reactor, ridden by Mr J. Hogan, and Joyful Kit, ridden by Mr M.K. Tobin. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned who were of the view that although the winner had gained an early lead they felt that they had got close enough in the home straight before the winner sprinted away again
Mr. D. O'Connor reported that his instructions were to get cover early on. He added that the winner was keen early which brought about an early lead. He added that he felt the winner would come back to them on todays ground but felt that the winner showed a good turn of foot going to the line
Ms. S. Ahern stated that her instructions were to settle with cover as her mount has made the running previously and faded in the closing stages.
Jack Brendan Foley reported that his instructions were to jump off towards the rear as his mount has been very keen in the past but that his mount still tired badly before the turn in
Mr. T. Feeney reported that his instructions were to settle towards the rear and get cover in order to get home on the testing ground.
Mr. J. C. Barry reported that his mount can be very keen and he was instructed to jump off three quarters way back and let the race unfold from there.
Mr. S. Fenelon reported that his instructions were to jump off mid way and settle his mount.
Mr. F. Maguire reported that his instructions were to jump off in third or fourth. His said his mount can be very keen and difficult to settle and when he settled his mount he waited for company to track down the winner.
Mr. J. J. Codd reported that he wanted to be third or fourth. He felt the winner had broke very smart and he had expected the winner to come back at some point. He concluded by saying that when the field got close to the winner it quickly went away again in the closing stages.
Mr. J. Hogan reported that his instructions were to settle his mount and he added that his mount did not handle the ground throughout.
Mr. M. K. Tobin reported that his instructions were to settle his mount in mid field and added that he was unable to go any quicker.

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given.
