204D Doneraile H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Provocateuse, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards requested a report from G.M.Lyons, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Frenetic, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. Shane Lyons, Authorised Representative for the trainer stated that following showers the ground was yielding last time out at Cork on the 9th of June and the better ground today had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Strong Johnson trained by J.H. Scott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left.

T.P. Madden, rider of Provocateuse trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got upset in the stalls.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Premium Ticket, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second and Rock Chant (USA), ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. K. J. Manning stated that Rock Chant had crossed his racing line and had cost him the race. S. M. Crosse stated that his mount had drifted off the rail after he used his whip in his right hand but he was well clear of the other horse. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Rock Chant had caused interference to Premium Ticket he did not improve its finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the judge's placings and they took no further action.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Caruso King trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left up the straight.

204G Kanturk H'cap

The Stewards received mobile phone communication from Francis Casey , trainer, that the transport vehicle for his charge Rock Ya Boy Ya had been at a standstill for a considerable length of time on the M7 between Junctions 22 & 23 owing to a traffic accident. He kept in continuous communication and advised that his charge had become very agitated and upset. At 16.40 hours he requested permission to withdraw Rock Ya Boy Ya as he felt that it was the only decision to make in the best interests of the horses wellfare. Photographic evidence was also forwarded to the Stewards. Having considered all matters presented, the Stewards allowed Rock Ya Boy Ya to be withdrawn without any penalty.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Tenroundqueen, ridden by B.M. Coen, unplaced, Wantsandneeds, ridden by S.B. Kelly, unplaced, Catch Kodi, ridden by R. P. Cleary, unplaced, Dawn Tapper, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, Lady Barrington, ridden by T.P. Madden, unplaced and Speedy Pix, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared that several horses had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B. M. Coen stated that he was not aware that C. D. Hayes was on his flanks and his horse was getting tired and when he hit his horse twice it drifted more. S, B, Kelly stated that he had pulled to the outer and he received interference from his inside. R. P. Cleary stated that he got interference from the inside from a knock on effect. K. J. Manning stated that he got pressure from the inside and there was contact made. T. P. Madden stated that he received interference from his inside from a knock on effect. C. D. Hayes stated that Tenroundqueen drifted from the inside towards him and he had to check towards Dawn Tapper on his outside to avoid clipping heels. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that B. M. Coen was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered B. M. Coen's record in this regard the Stewards suspended B. M. Coen for seven racedays.
