The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Nelly's Money, ridden by B. Hayes, placed second, Bitview Colin, ridden by L. Quinlan, placed first, and Hollybank King, ridden by R.P. Treacy, placed fourth, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B. Hayes stated that his mount suffered intimidation from the winner, was unsure if there was contact but felt it cost him the race. L. Quinlan stated that his mount drifted left and accepted that he should have corrected him. R.P. Treacy stated that his ground was taken but he was not sure if it cost him the race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Bitview Colin had caused interference to Hollybank King and Nelly's Money he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were however, of the opinion that L. Quinlan, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended him for two racedays.
