The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Tiantu, ridden and trained by Mr P. Power. Evidence was heard from the rider/trainer concerned. Mr Power outlined his charges previous form of failing to finish out his races when ridden prominently and with this in mind, he opted to ride from off the pace, get his mount jumping and to do the best he could. He said his mount jumped and travelled well in what was his first chase and was not inconvenienced by the fallers or passing the stable yard. He said his mount momentarily came off the bridle turning out of the back, but rallied down the hill and stayed on past tired horses in the closing stages. He further added that he may have got the tactics wrong on this occasion, but was still satisfied that he had achieved his best possible placing under a hands and heels ride.
The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Tiantu was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered in relation to the running and riding of Tiantu.
During the course of this enquiry Mr. Power made reference to a joint ownership and training arrangement, which he accepted was not registered and in view of this, the Stewards referred this matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation.
The Stewards interviewed C.A. Landers, rider of Cloudy Morning, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended C.A. Landers for 3 racedays.
