058A Nire Valley Claiming H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Youralwaysdreamin, trained by Patrick T. Foley, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after jumping the island hurdle away from the stands where the runners met the running rail involving Commandingpresence, ridden by P.T. Enright, placed fifth, Four Horsemen, ridden by D.E. Mullins, unplaced, and Nevendon (GB), ridden by B. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared that interference took place when Commandingpresence was ridden to take the inner when meeting the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence D.E. Mullins stated that he had maintained his racing line when Commandingpresence arrived on his inner and contact was made. He added that in his opinion the layout of the running rail had caused the problem and did not blame P.T. Enright for his riding. B. Hayes stated that his mount got pushed outwards and shuffled back at the time of this incident. P.T. Enright stated that he had room when he made the decision to go for the inner based on the way that the running rail was laid out and added that he did not force his way up the inner of Four Horsemen. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found that P.T. Enright was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards cautioned P.T. Enright on this occasion. .

The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.J. Molloy, rider of Bocelli's Voice, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, M.J. Molloy admitted that he had breached the whip guidelines and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that M.J. Molloy was in breach of R10(3)(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height and R10(3)(i) by using his whip without allowing his mount at least three strides to respond. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended M.J. Molloy for three racedays.

The Raceday Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Getaway Henry, trained by Daniel Joseph O'Leary, for failing to present the horse for identification to an Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).

058C Fourmilewater M'dn H'dle

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Steve Jones, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Criminal Mischief, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Steve Jones reported that the weaker race combined with the heavy going in his opinion brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.

058D Cannonwood H'cap H'dle

A.P. Kelly, rider of Thirsty Thursday, trained by Colin Motherway, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout this race.

058E Kilmanahan Beginners S'chase

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the riding of Mr W.T. Cronin where his mount Grace Shelby took a heavy fall at the final fence when the animal appeared to be very tired on the approach to this fence. Mr W.T. Cronin stated that he felt on the approach to the final fence that she would jump it but realised within a few strides of the fence that he should have pulled up. Having considered all the evidence and viewed the video recording, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr W.T. Cronin's actions were a breach of Rule 272 (i). Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Mr W.T. Cronin for seven racedays.
