The Stewards interviewed D. McMonagle, rider of Hattie Amarin, concerning his use of the whip in the last three furlongs of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, D. McMonagle stated that his mount was a very big filly which came off the bridle early and was leaning in behind the leader. He used his whip to get her into full stride but admitted that overall he had miscalculated his use. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D. McMonagle was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned D. McMonagle on this occasion.

L.T. McAteer, rider of Aunty Audrey trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

The Stewards requested a report from Mrs John Harrington, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Only Sky, placed first, as compared with its recent run here at Ballinrobe on the 21st June. Niall Amond, Authorised representative of Mrs John Harrington reported that the application of first time cheek pieces and a strong ride from the front by holding the rails position contributed to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
