Back Protector Weight Allowance to be introduced for Spring Point to Point Campaign

05 December 2012

The Turf Club has announced that a 2lbs weight allowance for Body Protectors will be introduced for the 2013 Spring Point to Point campaign. At a specially convened meeting of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee held on Tuesday, 4th December, it was agreed to introduce the allowance with effect from 30th December, 2012, at the Duhallow (F) Kanturk Point to Point. At Tuesday's meeting there were representatives of Riders, Handlers, Stewards, Officials and Point to Point Committee members. The meeting also discussed the mares' 5lbs sex allowance and the novice riders' 5lbs allowance. Having considered the views of those present and taking into account statistical analysis for the autumn season, the Stewards deemed that the Body Protector allowance was an appropriate change at this time.
