The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Marian Avenue, ridden by P. Byrnes, and trained by C. Byrnes. Evidence was heard from the rider and the Authorised Representative for the trainer concerned. P. Byrnes stated that his instructions were to jump off in the front row and ride his mount as he found him. He added that they went very quick up front and his mount did not travel on today's going. Cathal Byrnes, Authgorised representative for C. Byrnes, confirmed the instructions given and he expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He added that he felt today's going was too quick in places for his charge and he had not handled it. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Marian Avenue was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations given. However, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that P. Byrnes was in breach of Rule 213, in that he had failed to report in the first instance to the Clerk of the Scales anything which might have affected the running of his mount and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended P. Byrnes for one raceday.
