The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last fence involving It's Time Again, ridden by J.C. Gainford, placed second, and Joe's Turn, ridden by D. Meyler, placed first, where it appeared these horses shifted towards the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.C. Gainford stated that there was no bumping and he didn't have to stop riding. D. Meyler stated that his horse got to the front too soon and had a look around in front. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while interference may have taken place it did not affect the finishing position so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider, as they determined that the interference was due to circumstances beyond the control of D. Meyler and therefore took no further action.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.C. Gainford, rider of It's Time Again, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(g)(frequency) and suspended him for one race day. In determining this penalty the Raceday Stewards took into account his clean record, the usage of the whip over the entire distance of the race (three miles) and the limited usage in the closing stages.
