Evidence was heard from the riders and the IHRB Starter. D P McDonogh stated that he was on a difficult horse, called out to the starter "wait" that he wasn't ready to go and felt the start was mistimed. C D Hayes stated that he made the starter aware that he would be mounting in the stalls and asked him to wait until he had both feet in his irons. He further added that he had just about got his feet in the irons and had little control of his mount when the stalls opened which resulted in him coming out awkwardly. Mr B R Hamilton stated that he awaited the signal from the Stall Handler Team Leader, and when he was satisfied all horses were ready to start, he dropped the flag and started the race.
