The Raceday Stewards interviewed C.P. O'Shea, rider of General Ryan, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of R10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that C.P. The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the approach to the last fence involving C'est Quelqu'un (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed first, and General Ryan, ridden by C.P. The Raceday Stewards enquired from D.P. Maxwell, rider of Snugsborough Benny, who fell on the flat turning down the hill on the second circuit. D.P. Maxwell stated that his mount was a good ground horse and was unable to handle the underfoot conditions throughout before stumbling and falling independently of any other horse. Having considered the evidence and viewed a recording of the incident in the presence of the IHRB Clerk of The Course, Mr. P.F. Graffin, and having consulted with senior riders who stated that they were satisfied that the underfoot conditions were safe to race on, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
