355A John Lynch Carpets 3-Y-O Maiden H'dle

The Raceday Stewards held an enquiry prior to race one, pursuant to Rule 87, to consider a report from the Veterinary Officer, Dr G. Adams, regarding Harsh, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the Veterinary Officer and the trainer concerned. Dr. Adams reported that Harsh was presented for identification with a dry brown residue on its lips and inside of the mouth. Joseph Patrick O'Brien stated that Harsh had a small abrasion on the corner of its mouth and manuka honey had been applied today to the exterior of both sides of the mouth to help the healing process and stop the bit rubbing. Having considered all the evidence, including that the Veterinary Officer was satisfied that Joseph Patrick O'Brien had provided a reasonable explanation for the residue, the Raceday Stewards allowed Harsh to run on this occasion and ordered a full regulatory sample be taken post race.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Td's Approach trained by Cian Collins was found to have blood at both nostrils post race.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Jhentong Enki (FR), ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed fifth, Mossy Fen Park, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed second, and Predators Gold (FR), ridden by P. Townend, placed first, where it appeared Mossy Fen Park ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. W. Flanagan stated that he leaned left off the bend and then moved slightly left as he was aware of the horse down his inner. Rachael Blackmore stated that she was squeezed up for half a stride. P. Townend stated that he quickened up well down the outside and maintained his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that as the incident was caused by the movement of both horses in front, they gave P. Townend the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and took no further action, other than to advise him to ride with more caution in the future.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the turn for home involving Fils D'oudairies (FR), ridden by Sam Ewing, placed third, Pied Piper (GB), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed fourth, and State Man (FR), ridden by P. Townend, placed first, where it appeared Fil's D'oudairies ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Sam Ewing stated that his mount drifted off the rails turning in. J. W. Kennedy stated that the horse in front drifted off the rail momentarily and he had the horse to fill the gap. P. Townend stated that he was pushed off his racing line turning for home. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by Fils D'oudairies coming off his racing line and that S. Ewing was in breach of Rule 226, in that he had made a manoeuvre during the race with the apparent intention of advantaging another runner trained by the same trainer. Having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended S. Ewing for five racedays.

P. Townend, rider of State Man (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference turning in.

Smithers was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g(excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.
