R.P. Whelan, rider of Hezahunk, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lugged left under pressure.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Army Of India, trained by H.D. McGuigan, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at both nostrils post race.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Cross Border (GB), trained by Daniel William O'Sullivan, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Gobi Star, trained by Sean Davis, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be 1/10 lame on its right fore post race.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of Hezahunk, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the whip Regulation but stated that his first strike was for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R.P. Whelan in breach of R.10.3 (g)(frequency). Having considered his record (first offence under Regulation 10), they suspended him for one raceday.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Ministry Of Peace (USA), trained by Diego Dias, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

R. Whearty, rider of Lough Alina, trained by M.M. Rice, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly right in the straight.

J.J.G. Ryan, rider of The Expert (GB), trained by T.G. McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Rybakina, trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran keenly.

043C Peter K. Hits The Big 50 (QR) H'cap

The Raceday Stewards interviewed the following riders - Mr P.A. Dunne, rider of Razdan, placed fifth, Mr H.C. Swan, rider of Riyami, placed second, Mr A.P. Ryan, rider of Next Week unplaced, Mr F. Maguire, rider of Eskimo Komet, placed third, Mr A. Harvey, rider of Rockview Consort (GB), placed sixth, Mr B.M. Coonan, rider of Tudor City, unplaced, Miss G. Benson, rider of Caulaincourt, unplaced, Mr J.L. Gleeson, rider of Liberated Light, placed fourth, Mr R. James, rider of Arabian King (GB), unplaced, Miss A.B. O'Connor, rider of Dark Voyager, unplaced, Mr S.P. Queally, rider of Kottayam, unplaced and Mr P. Hanlon, rider of Liquid Metric (GB), unplaced, where it appeared that Wrecking Ball Paul, ridden by Mr K.P. Healy was given an unassailable lead before going on to win by 15 lengths. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr Dunne stated that his instructions were to get cover and he did not see how far the winner was in front until approaching the last bend. Mr Swan stated that he followed instructions to drop his horse out the back and ride for the best possible finishing position. He further added that he knew the winner had gone too far in front and shouted at the other riders to close the gap. Mr Ryan stated that his mount ran freely and so was seeking cover. Mr Maguire stated that his mount was being ridden over an extended trip on this occasion. He further stated that when he realised the winner had gone too far ahead he went for his mount on the bend turning into the home straight and felt this had cost him a better finishing position. Mr Harvey stated that his mount ran keenly and going round the back he had no room and had to sit and suffer. Mr Coonan stated that he followed instructions to sit mid division and he did not see how far clear the winner was. He felt he had finished to the best of his ability. Miss Benson stated that she was unaware of the strength of the pace in front. Mr Gleeson stated that he made his challenge down the back straight but that his horse never travelled. Mr James stated that he was at full pace from the start but was unable to maintain the pace as his mount never travelled. Miss O'Connor stated that she knew that the winner was a long way clear but her mount became unbalanced and could not go any faster. Mr Queally stated that he followed instructions to sit mid division and felt he was travelling as strongly as his mount could go. Mr Hanlon stated that his mount was flat out all the way.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that all the above named riders, were in breach of Rule 212.A.(ii). Having taken each individual riders record in this regard into account, the Raceday Stewards suspended the following riders for five racedays:
Mr P.A. Dunne, Mr H.C. Swan, Mr A.P. Ryan, Mr F. Maguire, Mr A. Harvey, Mr B.M. Coonan, Miss G. Benson, Mr J.L. Gleeson, Mr R. James, Miss A.B. O'Connor, Mr S.P. Queally, Mr P. Hanlon.

In arriving at their decision, the Raceday Stewards paid particular emphasis on the 'timely' obligations of each rider as stated in Rule 212.A.(ii). It was this part of the Rule in particular that all riders were found to be in breach of.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed John C. McConnell, trainer of Khadaash (GB), concerning the behaviour of his charge who stood in the stalls for a considerable time and failed to be competitive before pulling up. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that his charge had a previous record of such behaviour but that he had made every effort to address this issue. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards suspended Khadaash (GB) for thirty days in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14(iii).

043D Put The Fun In Fundraising H'cap

The Raceday Stewards fined John C. McConnell, trainer €65 for failing to fit the declared cheek pieces to Tender Camilla (USA), prior to entering the parade ring.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Boola Boola, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount felt lame, was pulled up and dismounted immediately.

J. Kearney, rider of Easy Way, trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout.

John C. McConnell, trainer of Hangry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that mucus was found in the trachea on endoscopic examination post race.

043E Willie Buckley Memorial M'dn

J. Kearney, rider of Apache War, trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around up the straight.

043F Patton Race

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Navy Seal, trained by A.P. O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

043G Dundalk Winter Series Championship H'cap

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Rebelsontherun, trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
