172B VEI Global Supp. Kildare Chamber H'cap

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that C. Martins, rider of Bom De Briga, had weighed in at 1.2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, C. Martins accepted that he had weighed in at 1.2 lbs overweight and added that he rehydrated after weighing out as he had tried hard to weigh out at the correct weight. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that C. Martins was in breach of Rule 231 (iii) by weighing in at more than 1lb above the correct weight. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned C. Martins on this occasion.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Stanhope (GB), ridden by M.P. Sheehy, unplaced, Blue Wood, ridden by A.C. Persse, unplaced, It Might Be You, ridden by R. Whearty, unplaced, Silver Nemo, ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced, Teddy Boy, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, placed fourth, and Zaza Zut, ridden by J.A. Powell, unplaced, where it appeared that It Might Be You switched when it got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence R. Whearty stated that he had to switch momentarily when his mount got tight for room. R.P. Cleary stated that his mount was changing his action when he got a little short of room. J.A. Powell stated that he received a little pressure from his left but he did not have to stop riding. A.C. Persse stated that he felt his mount did not cause or suffer any interference. D.E. Sheehy stated that his mount idled when he hit the front and ran around a little but felt he did not cause any interference. M.P. Sheehy stated that his mount marginally shifted left when joined by Merlins Muse (USA) on his outside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.

S.D. Bowen, rider of Hot Whispers, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount reared up in the starting stalls.

R. Whearty, rider of It Might Be You, trained by Thomas Coyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he had to switch his mount right momentarily in the closing stages of this race.

Adam Caffrey, rider of Not Just Yet, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled throughout this race.

The Raceday Stewards informed David Marnane, trainer, that his charge Cash Or Crypto which refused to race when the starting stalls opened, may render himself liable to a suspension should he repeat similar behaviour in the future.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from K.J. Condon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Sioux Spirit, placed first, as compared with its previous run at Listowel on the 3rd June when finishing last of five runners beaten thirteen lengths by the winner Grey Leader over one mile on good ground. K.J. Condon reported that his charge failed to stay the one mile trip at Listowel and the reversion back to six furlongs today brought about the improved performance. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.
