The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Catchabird, ridden by A.P. Kelly, and trained by W.J. Burke. Evidence was heard from the rider and from Ms. Sarah Connell, Authorised Representative for the trainer. A.P. Kelly stated that his mount misbehaved leaving the parade ring and proved difficult to get to the start. He confirmed that he was familiar with his mount having ridden her at home and outlined how she had misbehaved on her previous run where she had ran very free and failed to finish out the race. He said his instructions were to settle his mount early, creep into the race and to do the best he could. He further added that his mount settled well in a race that had a very slow pace early and jumped well apart from one or two slight mistakes before staying on well past tired horses in the closing stages. Ms. Connell confirmed the instructions given and expressed her satisfaction with the ride. She confirmed that Catchabird is a very difficult individual that wears a hood for this reason and was off the track for a considerable length of time prior to this run. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Catchabird was found to be lame on the right hind and to be showing signs of being in season post race. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations offered. Mr. B. Murphy, Raceday Steward, recused himself from this race.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walk Away Harry, trained by C.Byrnes, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be slightly lame on the left hind post race.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Chainofconsequence, trained by Michael J. McDonagh, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the left fore post race.

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. A. O'Keeffe, that L. Quinlan, rider of Qatar Spirit (FR), had weighed in at 1.3lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had weighed in heavy owing to plenty of kick back from the testing ground conditions and showed evidence of this on his clothing. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards accepted the explanation offered on this occasion.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Halsafari, ridden by B. Hayes, placed third, Millstream Lady, ridden by C.P. McNamara, placed second, and Rockbrook, ridden by S.D. Torrens, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B. Hayes stated that he received interference from the winner, but was satisfied that it had not cost him a better finishing position. C.P. McNamara stated that he received interference from the winner which had both bumped him and carried him off his racing line and felt it had cost him the winning of the race. S.D. Torrens accepted that his mount had caused interference, but was of the opinion that he had corrected it after the bump and felt that he had not improved his finishing position as a result of the interference that was caused. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Rockbrook had caused interference to Millstream Lady and as a result of this interference had improved its finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second placed horses and amended the result to read as follows:
Amended Result:
First: Millstream Lady
Second: Rockbrook
Third: Halsafari
Fourth: Cheerful Chap
Fifth: Qatar Spirit
Sixth: Swelltime
Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that S.D. Torrens was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for two racedays.
