Protecting the Integrity & Reputation of Irish Horseracing

Fairyhouse 1st December 2013

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

D E Mullins replaced D.N. Russell on Fantastic Gold (GB), trained by M.O. Cullinane (Race 4)(Rider stood down, see enquiry).

325D Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace H'dle

The Stewards received a report from Dr John Kennedy, Turf Club Medical Officer, before the running of the fifth race stating that D. N. Russell was now fit to ride.

The Stewards interviewed A.J.Martin, trainer of Dedigout, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that this horse had broken its tongue strap during saddling and he was forced to source a new one and fit it which accounted for the unfortunate delay. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.

325E Irish Stallion Farms EBF(M)H'cap S'chase

The Stewards considered evidence from Dr John Kennedy, Turf Club Medical Officer, regarding the fitness of D. N. Russell to ride in this race. Dr. Kennedy confirmed that he was declaring D. N. Russell unfit to ride in this race under Rule 125 (x) as he was suffering from a continuing nose bleed but he would review his fitness throughout the day.

Having considered the evidence the Stewards allowed the substitution of D E Mullins for D N Russell for this race.

325G UNIFLU-1st For Cold & Flu(P-Am)Flat Race

The Stewards fined Gordon Elliott, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Sheemore Lad, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards received a report from Mr P W Murtagh , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Mr S. Clements , rider of Valgor Du Ronceray (FR) , weighed in at 1.7 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he could not account for the overweight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr S. Clements was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for one raceday.
