The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

Kenne Williams rode Beauty Bella (reserve), trained by Adrian Murray (Race 2)
N.M. Crosse rode Berlina (reserve), trained by John C. McConnell (Race 7)

377A Happy Christmas From All At Dundalk M'dn

S. Foley, rider of Oh So Bright, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away.

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Hemight, trained by J.A. Stack, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around in the straight.

377B Gateway Hotel Dundalk Race & Stay M'dn

The Raceday Stewards advised A. Oliver, trainer of Loma Larnee (GB), that a repeat performance of his charge which refused to race, may render it liable for a suspension in the future.

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Miqdaad, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was taken slightly left in the straight. Having reviewed the incident, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

R.P. Whelan, rider of Gioiella, trained by Jarlath P. Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left under pressure.

L.F. Roche, rider of Loma Larnee (GB), trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount refused to race.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Sailor's Warning, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left and right up the straight.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Loma Larnee (GB), trained by A. Oliver, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Allo Arry, trained by Adrian McGuinness, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

377D Irishinjuredjockeys.com Appr. Rated Race

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Not Forgotten, trained by M. Halford & T. Collins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

J.A. Powell, rider of Barbapapa, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left up the straight.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Paul W. Flynn, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Cheers Again (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that other than giving the horse a break he could offer no explanation for the return to form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident approximately one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Barbapapa, ridden by J.A. Powell and Cheers Again (GB), ridden by J. Cleary, where it appeared Cheers Again (GB) had to check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Not Forgotten, trained by M. Halford & T. Collins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

377E Botanica International H'cap

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Palace Rock, ridden by Cillian McConnell, Free Flow (USA), ridden by L.T. McAteer, Zileo (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan and Chutzpal, ridden by J.A. Heffernan where it appeared Chutzpal received a bump and became unbalanced. J.A. Heffernan stated that his mount put his foot down against Free Flow on the turn in and they became tight for a stride. L.T. McAteer stated that they swung off the bend, he switched onto his right lead, they came together and he corrected. R.P. Whelan stated that they gradually came over to the stand side and he was not aware of any incident. Cillian McConnell stated that he followed Free Flow into the straight and there was no contact from his horse. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that L.T. McAteer was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for eight race days.

Siobhan Rutledge, rider of Vultan, trained by A.J. Martin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount hung left in the straight.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Chutzpal, trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount clipped a heel turning into the straight.

S. Foley, rider of Deep Sigh (FR), trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly half way down the back straight.

377F1 HRI Best Turned-Out Flat League H'cap

C.D. Hayes, rider of Blackstone Cliff, trained by Shane Crawley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran keenly throughout.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving Pinball Wizard, ridden by S.D. Bowen, and Blackstone Cliff, ridden by C.D. Hayes where it appeared Blackstone Cliff had to switch. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount ran keenly, he stayed centre in the straight. At the furlong pole he was aware of Pinball Wizard and he has able to take evasive action and switch. S.D. Bowen stated that he made his move a furlong and a half down, he quickened and picked up when his mount drifted right but he felt he was clear of Blackstone Cliff. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental and they took no further action.

377F2 HRI Best Turned-Out Flat League H'cap

S.B. Kelly, rider of Gurkha Girl, trained by Michael Patrick Fenton, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned right under pressure.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Not Just Any Eagle, trained by Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran too freely.

Siobhan Rutledge, rider of Together Aclaim (GB), trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount took a keen hold.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed S.P. Bird, rider of Kartayaz, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount has a tendency to stop and he ended up breaching the Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found him in breach of Reg.10.3.(g) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for four race days.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed C.D. Hayes, rider of Cara Susanna, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(g) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his record into account, the Raceday Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.

377G Horse Racing Returns 12th Jan. 2024 Hcap

R.P. Whelan, rider of Migdam (FR), trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was tight on the first bend.

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Dukeman, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ducked left after a furlong.
