The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the regulatory body for horseracing in Ireland, responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish racing and the licensing of its participants on an all-island basis. This is a new opportunity for a full-time administrator based at the IHRB offices on the Curragh to use their skills as part of the team driving change in the Department’s work in this area, including that within the IHRB’s Strategic Plan. The Veterinary Regulatory Administrator will support the Chief Veterinary Officer to progress the work of the Department.
The role will suit a highly motivated and competent administrator with an interest in equine welfare and/or racing. Although this role is full-time (five days in seven) with core hours, we are open to making the schedule work for the right person.
The principal responsibilities of the role will be:
- Technical input into the Department’s regulatory function with specific reference to compliance with equine infectious disease control, including,
- Review and clearance of digital equine influenza vaccination certification
- Administration of the IHRB’s function as an Authorised Delegated Body for the purposes of horse movement between Ireland and other Member States.
- Organisation of Veterinary Department meetings, including the Board’s Veterinary and Equine Welfare Committee.
- Administrative support for the Department’s routine regulatory work on and off the racecourse, plus ongoing projects.
- Assisting the Licensing and Disciplinary teams with preparation for disciplinary cases with veterinary team involvement.
- Administration of the Department’s audit function and responsibilities in relation to veterinary standards on and off the racecourse.
- Support for the Veterinary Training Officer including preparation and management of veterinary training events and records.
- Administration of files for veterinary matters and maintenance of related databases.
- Production of correspondence, memos, presentations, reports and meeting packs.
- Administrative resilience for the Point-to-Point and Licensing teams.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other digital systems.
