(Part-time, North-Leinster based)
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. The IHRB is responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish horseracing. It is also responsible for the licensing of all participants in Irish racing. Adherence to the Rules of Racing on race day is overseen by the Raceday Stewards.
To bolster the Raceday Stewarding team, the IHRB now wishes to recruit a stewarding Administrative Assistant. This is a new role reporting to the Senior Stipendiary Steward & Raceday Operations Manager. Working to a roster and travelling to race meetings, with the potential for working remotely being developed, the primary function will be to support the Raceday Stewarding team in their administration and communication tasks. The below are examples of the tasks which are required on a daily basis, but this is not an exclusive list:
Typical Duties:
- Typing Stewards’ Enquiry reports
- Updating racing Disciplinary records
- Managing Stewards Room communications, both incoming and outgoing.
- Downloading emails, racing disciplinary records etc
- Responsible for social media output during the races
- Assisting the Stipendiary Steward Team with organising Stewards’ Enquiries when on course
- Ensuring ‘End of Day Reports’ from the Stewards Room are accurate and disseminated in a timely manner.
The Person
To be considered for this position you will need excellent administration skills, strong attention to detail, be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and as part of a dynamic team. You will need excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships within the team and across the organisation, plus a strong work ethic with willingness to go “above and beyond” when needed. Flexibility and discretion are also required while you must have a Full Driving License and use of own vehicle. The role is based on the racecourse initially, with the option to work remotely being developed and given racing is a seven-day sport will require availability on evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
- Excellent communication, organisational, verbal, and written skills
- Good computer knowledge (Word, Outlook) and general IT skills are essential.
- A self-starter capable of working on their own initiative and as part of a team.
- Must be meticulous - paying great attention to accuracy and detail.
- Horseracing Industry knowledge advantageous
Annual salary range based on 104-day contract (average 2 days/week) is €13,000 - €15,000, depending on relevant experience. Travel & subsistence allowances will be paid in line with organisational policies and other approved expenses will be reimbursed. This is a fixed term contract up until 31st December 2024.
