Roddy Ryan takes over as Senior Steward of the Turf Club

The Turf Club is pleased to announce a number of changes to Stewards which take effect from 18th December 2011. The appointments were approved by Members at the Summer General meeting.

Roddy Ryan takes over from John McStay as Senior Steward. He joined the Turf Club in 1997 and has served on its Finance Committee, the Compliance and Regulations Committee and the Curragh Committee. He acted as a consultant to the ITBA sponsored Dukes Report which analysed the economic impact of the Irish racing and breeding industry. He has been a board member of Horse Racing Ireland for 2 years and was a member of its Strategic Marketing Group. Mr. Ryan who is a Director of Glen Dimplex, Grafton Group plc, and other companies has been interested in racing all his life and has been an owner and breeder for a number of years, with interests in horses such as One Night Out, Kim Fontaine and the 2009 winning two-year-old Carazam.

Neville O’Byrne replaces Roddy Ryan as Deputy Senior Steward. A solicitor by profession, Mr. O’Byrne joined the Turf Club in 2007. He has served as Chairman of its Compliance and Regulations Committee and Joint Deputy Chairman of the Referrals Committee.

Ms. Meta Osborne replaces Peter Reynolds as a Steward. Ms. Osborne is a qualified vet with a particular interest in broodmare reproduction. She joined the Turf Club in 2005 and has served on its Referrals Committee and Compliance and Regulations Committee. She is a past President of the Irish Veterinary Association and was the first female President of the Veterinary Council of Ireland. She is a joint owner of Tinnakill House Stud in Co. Laois with her husband (Dermot Cantillon) which has produced three Group 1 winners.
