The Stewards of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee today announced that Josh Byrne would take over as Registrar of the I.N.H.S. Committee in April 2009 when the present Registrar, Sean Barry, retires.

Josh Byrne has vast experience in the industry and is currently Race Planning Manager with Horse Racing Ireland.  He previously worked for the Turf Club up to 2002 where he acted as Editor of the Irish Racing Calendar and Secretary to the Fixtures and Programmes Committee.

Commenting on the appointment, Senior Steward of the I.N.H.S. Committee, John Moloney, said “we are delighted to appoint Josh to the position.  He has a great knowledge of the industry and will be a huge asset to us.”

Josh Byrne said “I am really looking forward to taking over as I.N.H.S. Registrar in April.  The position is one of the most sought after in racing and I will be delighted to assume the role which in the past has been held by some of the great racing administrators of our time.”
