The Stewards fined John M. Oxx, trainer of Sebs Star, €130 for failing to notify Horse Racing Ireland that his charge was a gelding in accordance with Rule 148 (vi).
250B Navanracecourse.ie H'capS. Foley, rider of Mi Esperanza trained by A. Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount felt the ground in the last furlong.
The Stewards fined J.J.Lambe, trainer, €65 for failing to fit declared cheeck pieces to Rattling Jewel (GB), prior to entering the parade ring.
The Stewards fined J.F. Levins, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Distant Mirage (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Distant Mirage (GB) in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90.
250D Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier NurseryThe Stewards requested a report from Joseph Patrick O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Air Force Jet (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Brendan Powell, Authorised Representative of Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported that today's race was a lower grade than his charge's previous two runs and he is faster over five furlongs which is a more favourable distance and brought about an improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
250E DnmClub.com H'capC.D. Hayes, rider of Attack At Dawn trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount clipped heels after 1 furlong.
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the early stages of this race involving Attack At Dawn, ridden by C.D. Hayes, Dubai Is Great (GB), ridden by C.P. Hoban and The Next Abbey, ridden by C.G. O'Dwyer, where it appeared that Attack At Dawn and Dubai Is Great ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of Martin Brown accompanying C.G. O'Dwyer. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards could not apportion any blame for the incident and they therefore took no further action.
250F(i) Magic Pumpkin Fest.Navan Apprentice Hcap (Division One)The Stewards interviewed J.P. Shinnick, rider of Latchet, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, in the presence of Mr. Shane Lyons. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that J.P. Shinnick was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g), in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended J.P. Shinnick for 1 raceday.
The Stewards interviewed M.P. Sheehy, rider of The Lady's Bid, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned in the presence of Mr. Brendan Powell. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that M.P. Sheehy was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g), in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned M.P. Sheehy on this occasion.
The Stewards interviewed D.N. Curran, rider of Sir Lolypop, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that D.N. Curran was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (b), in that he used his whip unnecessarily when his chances of winning or being placed were clearly gone. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended D.N. Curran for 3 racedays.
N Dooly, trainer of Delaire (GB), reported to the Clerk of Scales that the rider's saddle slipped on the back straight.
250F(ii) Magic Pumpkin Fest.Navan Apprentice Hcap (Division Two)The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Coolbawn Magic, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
M.P. Sheehy, rider of Coolbawn Magic trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and changed legs constantly down the back straight.
