164E TRI Equestrian M'dn

The Stewards interviewed D.P. McDonogh, rider of Como Park, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. D.P. McDonogh stated that his mount was responding to his urgings in a tight finish but accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.P. McDonogh was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D.P. McDonogh for two racedays.

164F Bulmers Secret Orchard Live (QR) M'dn

The Stewards interviewed Mr J. Younge, rider of Corbin, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race when out of contention. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr J. Younge stated that his mount had never travelled but got a second wind and he used his whip a few times but admitted that he erred by using his whip when his chance was clearly gone. He apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J. Younge was in breach of R10(3)(b) by hitting his mount unnecessarily after its chance of winning or being place was clearly gone. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr J. Younge for one raceday.

164G Sandyford H'cap

Tracey Collins, trainer of Here's Hoping, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge did not handle todays going or let itself down

R.P. Cleary, rider of Here's Hoping trained by Tracey Collins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a lot of pressure from its inside and was forced out onto heels turning for home.

J. Coen, rider of Arch Enemy trained by Patrick Magee, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was checked after two furlongs.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Rocket Carnival (FR), ridden by James J. Doyle, Arch Enemy, ridden by J. Coen, Pride Of Pimlico, ridden by K.J. Manning and Philly's Hope, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, where it appeared that some of these horses received interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, James J. Doyle stated that his mount was dropping back when caught from behind and Arch Enemy ran up onto him. J. Coen stated that his mount quickened to take a gap but ran out of room and landed on the heels of Rocket Carnival (Fr). K.J. Manning stated that his mount had nowhere to go when another horse rolled left and he caught his heel. J.J.G. Ryan stated that he went for the same gap as Arch Enemy and quickened well to get into it. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise J.J.G. Ryan to ride with more awareness. At this enquiry T.G. McCourt accompanied J.J.G. Ryan and Kevin Borthwick accompanied J. Coen.
