The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Lamprog, ridden by S.P. Davis, Victory Lantern, ridden by R.P. Cleary and Anima Erat (FR), ridden by W. Joyce, where it appeared that Lamprog got tight for room when challenging between horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, W. Joyce stated that he was keeping a straight course when his mount received contact behind the saddle. R.P. Cleary stated that his mount had hung left throughout this race but felt that he had kept his racing line when challenging. S.P. Davis stated that he saw the opportunity to challenge between horses and was aware that Victory Lantern on his right was hanging. He added that any movement in this tight situation could cause contact. The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final one hundred yards involving Sunchart (GB), ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed second, and Wordsworth, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed first, where it appeared that Wordsworth edged towards Sunchart (GB) and may have made contact. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, A.J. Slattery stated that his mount was galloping to the line when receiving a slight bump from Wordsworth which he felt had intimidated the animal. R.L. Moore stated that his mount changed leads about thirty five yards from the finish, stepped inwards and did touch Sunchart (GB)when marginally in front. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Wordsworth had made contact with Sunchart (GB), he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this contact so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action. .

A.J. Slattery, rider of Sunchart (GB) trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got a bump close to the line.
