Slattery, placed first, Royal Pippen, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed fifth and High Altitude, ridden by S. Foley, placed second where it appeared that Royal Pippen ran short of room on the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.A. Heffernan, stated that his mount suffered interference from his outside and that he had to check after running out of room. W. Joyce, stated that the horses on the outside made their way over to the railing causing him to run out of room. S. Foley, stated that his mount duplicated the action of Mr Slattery's mount by racing towards railing. A.J. Slattery, stated that he made his way to the railing, but was satisfied that he was clear and felt he had not contributed to the incident. Gavin Cromwell reported that his mount was freshened up after a break and the undulations of the track suited his charge which may have accounted for the apparent improvement in form.
