W. Joyce replaced D.E. Sheehy on Helmet Star (GB), trained by J.Larkin (Race 2)(Stewards permission)
C. D. Hayes replaced O.J. Orr on Hasanaat (GB), trained by Jack W. Davison (Race 4)(Injured)

268B Irish EBF Median Sires Series M'dn

The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the late arrival of D.E. Sheehy, the declared rider of Helmet Star (GB), necessitating a change of rider. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had been delayed due to a road traffic accident. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted D. E. Sheehy's explanation on this occasion and took no further action.

268C Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Tipperary Moon, trained by D. Donovan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

C.T. Keane, rider of Tipperary Moon trained by D. Donovan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action in the straight.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Linus Larrabee trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount raced keenly and hung right.

N.M. Crosse, rider of Myrcella trained by P.F.McEnery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got squeezed four out and lost its position.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about four furlongs from home involving Tipperary Moon, ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, Eglish (GB), ridden by Adam Caffrey, unplaced, Sunset Nova, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed fourth and Myrcella, ridden by N.M. Crosse, unplaced, where it appeared that Myrcella got tight for room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. T. Keane stated that he moved across from a wide draw and the front horse was steading the pace. Adam Caffrey stated that his mount brushed the running rail. A. J. Slattery stated that as the pace steadied in front it caused congestion. N. M. Crosse stated that he received pressure from his outside and lost his position. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental in nature, and they took no further action.

The Stewards requested a report from Joseph Anthony Murray, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Never Back Down, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Joseph Anthony Murray stated that a step up in trip coupled with a return to a track where he has previously run well had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.

A.J. Slattery, rider of Minky trained by Andrew Kinirons, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount missed the break.

268E BetVictor Apprentice H'cap

The Stewards interviewed R. Whearty, rider of Fallen Forest, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that R. Whearty was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency and 10.3.i, time to respond. Having considered R. Whearty's record in this regard the Stewards suspended R. Whearty for two racedays and ordered him to attend R.A.C.E for one days tuition on the correct use of the whip. R. Whearty was accompanied at this enquiry by Gary Bannon.
