074E Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Apprentice HcapT.P. Madden, rider of Red Bloodedcruiser (GB) trained by Shane Nolan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked turning in.
The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the bend into the straight involving Cautious Approach (GB), ridden by D.W. O'Connor, Tennesse Waltz, ridden by O.J. Orr, Ingelara, ridden by S.M. Crosse, Red Bloodedcruiser (GB), ridden by T.P. Madden, Rockafilly (FR), ridden by C.G. O'Dwyer and Film Noir, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, where it appeared interference had occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of C Persse, who accompanied S.M. Crosse and C O'Dwyer, who accompanied C.G. O'Dwyer. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental and took no further action.
D.W. O'Connor, rider of Cautious Approach (GB), trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was checked turning in.
074G Light Up Your Night H'capN.M. Crosse, rider of Langham (GB), trained by D.J.Barry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slow out of the stalls and reluctant to race thereafter.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Rockfish, ridden by H.J. Horgan, placed first and Bruinneall, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed second, where it appeared Bruinneall met with interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of D. Byrne, who accompanied H.J. Horgan. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.
L.F. Roche, rider of Lady Magdala, trained by Peter McCreery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
The Stewards interviewed H.J. Horgan, rider of Rockfish, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned in the presence of D. Byrne who accompanied H.J. Horgan. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3.(g) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards cautioned H.J. Horgan on this occasion.

Prior to the first race, a delegation of professional riders requested to meet with the Stewards to raise with them their concerns with regard to what they referred to as the inconsistency of the racing surface. They were satisfied that there were no safety concerns tonight. They requested that the Stewards inspect with them, areas of the track following the first race. The Stewards and deligation of riders inspected an area of the track both prior to and after harrowing and although the riders were happy to go ahead with racing tonight, they requested that the concerns raised by them would be addressed as a matter of urgency. Mr. B. Sheridan, I.H.R.B. Clerk Of The Course was consulted throughout the process and shared the concerns of the riders. Mr Jim Martin, Chief Executive of Dundalk Racecourse was informed of the concerns made. Having consulted with all the relevant parties, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive Of The I.H.R.B.
