The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Morning Approach, ridden by D. Butler, and trained by W. McCreery. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. D. Butler, stated that he was instructed to jump out and let her travel on and do his best. During a review of the video of the race he stated that his mount had missed the break and was resenting the kickback so he rode her wide. He stated to the Stewards that he rode at his strongest. W. McCreery, confirmed the instructions and added that his charge had stopped quickly in races when racing up with the pace and the objective today was to try and give her confidence to finish the race. He explained that the rider was very inexperienced and had also been tutored to ride in rhythm with his mount but overall he felt that the rider did not get aggressive in his riding and he was therefore disappointed with the ride. The Stewards requested the trainer and rider to review D. Butler's ride on Mogwli at Navan on the 20th October where it appeared that he rode with greater strength. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Morning Approach was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations of W. McCreery. In relation to D. Butler, rider, the Stewards were satisfied that he was in breach of Rule 212A(ii) by riding his mount tenderly and not in compliance with the riding instructions given. The Stewards also felt that the riders evidence was questionable and could not be reconciled with his ride in the Navan race. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D. Butler for 10 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee.

At the request of the Stewards, D.E. Sheehy, rider of Runway Queen (GB), trained by Anthony McCann, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he checked his mount in anticipation of being left tight for room.
