030D Racing TV Club Day At Dundalk Race

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving Singsong Lady, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed first and Jezebel Queen, ridden by M.A. Enright, placed second, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, M.A. Enright stated that his mount was maintaining a straight course when Singsong Lady came out to meet his mount with contact being made which unbalanced his own mount and in his opinion cost his filly the winning of the race. G.F. Carroll stated that he challenged Jezebel Queen while keeping apart from her but his own mount ducked from an advertising sign. In his own opinion this movement did not have any effect on the stride or action of the challenger. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Singsong Lady had caused interference to Jezebel Queen and as a result of this interference had improved it’s finishing position. As a consequence, the Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second placed horses and amended the result to read as follows:

Amended Result:

First: Jezebel Queen
Second: Singsong Lady
Third: Santa Catarina (GB)
Fourth: The Hansome Prince
Fifth: Snow Lotus
Sixth: Breach (GB).

The Stewards took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Woodrow, trained by Leanne Breen, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that her yard had been under a cloud since December and a couple of recent runners had shown a return to form. In relation to Woodrow, she explained that this gelding had disappointed the last day when finishing 13th of 14 runners and in her opinion appeared to be distressed and blowing hard post race. A few days later blood samples were taken from this gelding which revealed an abnormal blood cell count. She added that her horses in general were scoping wrong and showing poor blood results but she had continued to run them. She accepted that she had failed to report at the first instance the blood results of Woodrow to the I.H.R.B as required by Rule 213. She further added that Woodrow had worked well here recently and she was satisfied to omit the tongue strap for today's run. On the question of strong betting support, she confirmed to the Stewards that she had advised the owner of the animals well being before tonights run. Evidence was also heard from Mr G. O'Gorman, Rules of Racing Senior Handicapper. Having considered the evidence the Stewards referred the matter to the Referrals Committee.
