Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that B.W. Harvey was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended him for one raceday.

At the request of the Raceday Stewards, Shane Fenelon, rider of Size Five, trained by Noel C. 378D Irish Stall. Farms EBF Beginners S'chase

The Stewards enquired into circumstances surrounding the bypassing of the second last fence by the eight finishers. Evidence was heard from C. Brassil, rider of Innovated, placed first, Mr. F. Maguire, rider of Salmanino (FR), placed second, B.W. Harvey, rider of Jack In The Box, placed third, P.M. O'Brien, rider of Eyre Square, placed fourth, Sam Ewing, rider of Pats Choice, placed fifth, E. Walsh, rider of Killer Mode, placed sixth, Mr B. O'Neill, rider of Cru Bourgeois, unplaced and L.A. McKenna, rider of Gain De Cause (FR), unplaced. The riders general comments referred to observing a person with an orange flag running to signal a bypass was in place, hearing shouting and they realising that there was a large hole in the fence rendering it unsafe to jump. Evidence was also heard from Ms T. O'Meara, Clerk of the Course and Ms Megan Leigh, the person manning the road crossing and who the riders recognised as attempting to run into position while holding an orange flag. Having considered all the evidence and the circumstances that led to confusion at the second last fence, the Stewards using their powers under Rule 10 were satisfied to allow the result to stand. In view of the circumstances that occurred at the second last fence, the Stewards decided to refer this matter to the C.E.O. for a full investigation.

The I.H.R.B. Veterinary Officer examined Glenmalure Lodge, trained by P.J. Rothwell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nostrils post race.

Owing to damage to fence #2 (second last fence), the Stewards granted permission for this fence to be omitted from this race.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the last fence and the winning post involving Walking The Walk, ridden by Sam Ewing, placed second and Highstreetfashion, ridden by P.M. O'Brien, placed first, where it appeared that contact was made. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence Sam Ewing stated that his mount had headed Highstreetfashion when receiving a bump. He added that he put down his whip, got his mount balanced but received a second bump soon after. P.M. O'Brien stated that his mount was wandering and then drifted left for which he pulled the whip through into his other hand and straightened him up. He added that in his opinion his mount took the lead in the last fifty yards of this race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

378F McMahon McKay Hospitality Hunters S'ch

The I.H.R.B. Veterinary Officer examined The Storyteller, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards interviewed Miss A.L. Fitzgibbon, rider of Dylrow, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race when out of contention. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In her evidence Miss Fitzgibbon stated that her mount had gurgled at the top of the hill and then began to run on giving her a feeling that he might get an official placing. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss Fitzgibbon was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using her whip unnecessarily when her chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having taken her clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned her on this occasion.

Owing to damage to fence #2 (second last), the Raceday Stewards granted permission for this fence to be omitted from this race.

McKenna, placed second and Lucky Lyreen, ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, placed first, where it appeared that Faulty (GB) tightened Lucky Lyreen who in turn tightened Littlefoot which was racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence L.A. McKenna stated that both horses came in on his mount causing him to lose momentum. Mr Codd stated that he was on the quarters of Faulty (GB) when he edged onto his own mount which lost momentum and went in on Littlefoot. Mr Taaffe stated that his mount had edged left but he took corrective action when hearing a shout from Mr Codd. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that Mr Taaffe was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended him for one raceday.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final one hundred and fifty yards involving Littlefoot, ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed second and Lucky Lyreen, ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, placed first, where it appeared that both horses raced close together with contact being made. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence L.A. McKenna stated that his mount was beginning to rally when receiving continuous contact and losing momentum. He did admit that he did not have to stop riding. Mr Codd stated that these two horses were involved in a very tight finish but neither rider had stopped riding and in the last few strides, Littlefoot had started to edge outwards. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.
