128C Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Brad The Brief (GB), ridden by W. Buick, placed first, and Mooneista, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W. Buick stated that his mount jinked right and he straightened him up as he was aware that Mr. Lee was on his inside. W. J. Lee sated that his mount was intimidated across the track and he felt it cost him some distance. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Brad The Brief had caused interference to Mooneista he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference, so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

W. Buick, rider of Brad The Brief (GB) trained by Hugo Palmer (in GB), reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jinked right.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. H. T. Hynes, that J.A. Powell, rider of Loingseoir, had weighed in 1.1lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that J. A. Powell was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion. Mr P. D. Matthews absented himself from this enquiry and was replaced by Mr. P. D. Deegan.

N. M. Crosse, rider of Morning Approach trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned right in the straight.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Dagoda trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered after a couple of furlongs.

The Stewards reviewed an incident approximately five furlongs out involving Star Of Cashel, ridden by C.J. MacRedmond and Dagoda, ridden by R.P. Cleary, where it appeared Dagoda ran short of room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
