The Stewards interviewed P. Townend, rider of Morga, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found P. Townend in breach of Regulation 10.3.(g), excessive frequency, and 10,3.(f), excessive force. Morga was not available for inspection a second time. Having considered P. Townends record in this regard the Stewards suspended P. Townend for two racedays.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Imperial Choice, ridden by C.A. Landers, and trained by C.Byrnes. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. C.A. Landers, stated that he was instructed to line up handy, let her race wherever she was comfortable and to make his best effort to win. In running he felt that his mount never travelled from flag fall and having raced towards the rear of the field he felt that he was holding onto nothing from the fourth last hurdle. From thereon he claimed to have kicked and squeezed his mount without getting any response. In his opinion the filly was most disappointing but he outlined that she was carrying a total of an 18lb penalty today for her last two wins and was racing in a higher standard of race than previously attempted. The pace of the race was maintained throughout and this did not give her any chance to get into the race. Philip Byrnes, Authorised representative for C.Byrnes, trainer, confirmed the instructions that were given to the rider. He stated that he was happy with the ride but most disappointed with the run despite the 18lb combined penalty carried and the upgrade in the standard of race to an 80-123 rating band. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Imperial Choice was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.
