Joseph Quinn / Silvergrove (GB)
Tipperary – 22nd June 2006

The Referrals Committee Dr. Gordon A. Holmes (in the Chair), Mr. P.J.A O’Connor and Mrs. T.K. Cooper met at the Standhouse Hotel on 29th August 2006 to consider a referral by the Acting Stewards at Tipperary on 22nd June when, following the running of the Tipperary Town and District Professionals 3-y-o Handicap, they were unable to interview Joseph Quinn, trainer of Silvergrove (GB) in order to ascertain the reason for the horses behaviour on the way to the start when the horse unseated his rider and bolted colliding with a vehicle and injuring a stalls handler.

Evidence was heard from Joseph Quinn who said that the horse may have bolted when the rider was unseated as a result of the reaction of the crowd and that the horse had never behaved in a similar fashion before.

Having considered the evidence, the Committee suspended Slivergrove (GB) for six months commencing on 29th August.  They also ordered that, in the event of Silvergrove (GB) misbehaving on the racecourse in future, the matter should immediately be referred to the Referrals Committee.

The case was presented by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare
