2020 fixtures announced for Irish Point to Point Spring Season

The Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee (INHSC) today confirmed the 2020 fixtures for the Irish Point to Point spring season.  

A total of 80 Point to Point fixtures have been scheduled between the 30th December 2019 to the final day of the season on Monday, 1st June 2020. 

Last season saw the introduction of Four Year Old Auction Maiden Races and this spring a total of six Four Year Old Auction Maiden Races, confined to horses sold at a recognised National Hunt Store Sale in Ireland or Great Britain in 2019 for €25,000 or less, have been allocated.  

These races have been scheduled at the North Tipperary (F), East Down (F), Brosna (F), Co. Limerick (F), Bree (F) and Muskerry (F) fixtures. 

The INHSC have also announced that there will be four Six Year Old & Upwards Maiden Races with a €1,000 bonus to the winning owner sponsored by the INHSC.

These four races will take place at East Down (F), North Tipperary (F), Killinick (H) and Co. Limerick (F). There will also be an I.N.H.S.C Winners Race (also open to Maidens) at Ballymacad (F) which has a total of €5,000 in prize money. 

The Killeagh (H) fixture on the 19th of January 2020 will take place on a new right-handed track at Carrigarostic, Killeagh, Co. Cork, while Ballinagore (H) are a new hunt to the fixture list and they also stage their fixture on the 19th of January 2020. That fixture is scheduled for Ballycrystal, Kiltealy, Co. Wexford which is a left-handed track. 

Commenting on the 2020 Spring Fixture List, Martin O’Donnell, Deputy Senior Steward of the I.N.H.S.C. Senior Steward said: "Following on from the introduction of a point to point race for older horses with added prize money sponsored by the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee last Season, the INHSC have decided to expand this initiative and in addition to the race at Ballymacad (F) are pleased to sponsor four Six Year Old & Upwards Maiden races at point to points around the country, this extra prize money is being aimed at Owners and Handlers who keep older horses in training to compete in point to points."
